Great urban hotel

Great trendy downtown location. Amazing view of NYC from rooftop bar. Great service! Clean rooms. [Less]
Great hotel, uncertain neighborhood
By Van61
If you need to be in Newark, this is a great place to stay. I had a conference at Rutgers and the hotel was convenient, clean, and comfortable. It is close to the Newark Penn Station terminal, which [More] provides very frequent access to NYC via the new World Trade Center transit hub. My only real complaint is that the neighborhood is noisy and at least while I was visiting - was a hotbed of police activity. I could look out my window and believe I was witnessing an episode of COPS, as there were so many sirens and flashing lights going off every few minutes. The hotel is in a very old building that has been restored beautifully, but the windows don't really keep out the sound of the streets. So beware if you are a light sleeper - it may be hard to deal with the distraction. [Less]
Modern look and feel and very clean
Was not sure what to expect but we were all pleased with the overall experience. [Less]

Nice property and excellent location near Herald Square and Macy's and Empire State Building. Many restaurant choices nearby. Good hotel, clean and added bonus of breakfast included. Breakfast [More] adequate - not great. Staff was attentive [Less]
Perfect location in central midtown NYC
Great location on W 36th St. Macy's at one end, Empire State two blocks away at the other end. Much closer to Times Square, Bryant Square and Grand Central Terminal than I imagined so handy if [More] getting off the airport bus at either of the latter two locations. Good room size for NYC, lots of pillows, soundproofed for internal noise (no noise from lift or ice machine even though I was next to both). Secure safe in room. Great bathroom. No BBC America on TV (if that is important). Extensive breakfast buffet (hot and cold) - lots of choice and good quality. Minor issues - for breakfast all the plates, cups and cutlery are plastic and disposable so it feels slightly cheap. There is a construction site opposite the hotel on W36th St at the moment (October 2016) where work starts at 4.30am - but bring ear plugs and it isn't a problem. [Less]
Excellent Stay!
By Pkt66
Excellent stay at the Holiday Inn Express Times Square! Room was comfortable, convenient to everything we needed. We walked from the train station and it was an easy walk. Breakfast was good, area [More] is a little cramped, but there is not a lot of room in NYC, so that is not a negative, just an observation. Internet access was perfect. The best part of this trip was getting a "taxi" to the cruise pier. I asked the front desk to get us a taxi to the pier. Our "taxi" was a stretch limo! Very unexpected, and extremely inexpensive! Overall the stay was wonderful for the one night we were there, and we will definitely stay there again when in NYC. [Less]
Amenities and limited access
By Lady Uprock
The hotel is warm and welcoming and in a great location However this hotel was picked for its amenities and the pool which I went to two times was occupied by adorable little swimmers that were being [More] taught by an outside agency. Not really relaxing. On a weekend Friday evening and Saturday morning. As a guest you could not do laps and had to be prepared to have water splashed in your face. No schedule of when the pool was free was for guest (:. Secondly the gym couldn't even be used. I made the best of it however it was the primary reason I chose this hotel for the pool the gym and the resteraunt on site. [Less]
Nice, Comfortable Stay

A nice overnight convenient to La Guardia, with easy access to the City. [Less]
Pleasantly Surprised
By Teacher from the Burgh
I booked this hotel because it was close to the airport, offered free shuttle service every 20 minutes, and was located near Forest Hill -- the site of a Van Morrison concert. Although I was [More] somewhat concerned about what the hotel would look like (based upon the picture on the IHG website), I decided to use my points and book 2 nights. Once I arrived, I was pleasantly surprised (and very relieved) at what I experienced upon arrival -- very professional front desk staff, great servers in dining room, extremely clean bathroom in the lobby, and very comfortable guest rooms. This hotel's proximity to the subway, as well as to Citi Field, make it a place I'll use again and again. I'm glad I found this site. [Less]
