Where to Stay

If you’re visiting for tourism purposes, staying in the Polanco district, Zona Rosa, or downtown Centro keeps you close to nightlife and culture as well as museums and other attractions. Alternatively, you can combine convenience and comfort by choosing a hotel near the Mexico City International Airport, which also keeps you close to locales like Zócalo Plaza, the Palace of Fine Arts, the Palacio de los Deportes, the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez racetrack, Museo del Templo Mayor, and the Foro Sol.

How to Get to Mexico City

Most people travel to Mexico City by airplane, gliding in at the Benito Juárez International Airport (also known as the Mexico City International Airport). Once you’ve landed, the subway is easy to take from both terminals of the airport. Other options include the Metro bus and secure taxis—be sure to research taxi companies before taking any taxi. The safest options include Turismo and sitio taxis. Mexico City also offers “women and children only” city buses. Renting a car is not recommended due to concerns of theft and high cost. Similar to New York City’s boroughs, Mexico City features 16 delegaciones that are divided into neighborhoods. Knowing which neighborhood your destination is can be helpful when navigating your way around the city.

Excellent Concierge Service
By Fiveloonies
This was my first time in Mexico City and our Concierge, Monica, did as much as she could to help us learn the city. The staff spoke excellent English (my Spanish is awful) which really helped. We [More] were there over Holy Week, and the restaurant staff were kind enough to call and tell us there would be no alcohol available in any restaurant for the final three days of our visit, and recommended other dining establishments. The service was thoughtful and courteous, without being overwhelming. I would recommend this hotel - it is super close to a massive shopping mall (which I was going to miss, but am glad I didn't) so even if the weather is bad, you can spend all day there checking out all six floors. Kudos to the Intercontinental Staff. [Less]
