I was on my way to pick up a replacement truck bed in Middlebury, IN. I pulled off at the Pilot Truckstop and went to the restroom and got a drink. I get back in my truck and try to start it and get
the click, click sound. Great, I’m 3 hours from home and no tools, and I’m not a mechanic. Fortunately the Ford Dealer was across the street. I got my truck towed over there, I had a bad starter and several other small issues. I ask, Where’s the nearest hotel? There is a brand new Holiday Inn Express down the street. Ok, Im in luck.
The dealer shuttle van takes me down to the HIE. Its a brand new hotel, everything is bright, clean and smells like its new (a good thing). Im greeted by Veronica at the front desk, tells me where the good food places are and checks me in and gets me a nice room. Later that evening I needed something so I go down to the front desk
And Matthew gets me some fresh towels and a bottle of water.
I get a great nights sleep on the brand new pillow top mattress and I’m ready for the new day. I walk out of my room to get breakfast and I can smell the freshly cooked sausage in the breakfast area. Not the warmed up stuff you usually get. Norita is the breakfast attendant who cooks breakfast and keeps everything stocked. She does a real good job of making sure this isnt another plain Jane hotel breakfast.
Later that morning I find out Im not leaving Portage until Saturday morning. So I talk to Maggie about renting a U-Haul truck to get the truck bed back to Portage. She happens to know the Staff at U-Haul traffic division and helps me get a U-Haul rented. Very accommodating and knowledgeable about the area.
Then there was Teresa. She was a very entergetic, enthusiastic person who works the night shift. She was full of energy and gave you all the insights and info about the local area. Normally the person working the late night shift is just trying to get to 7:00 AM, Teresa truly loves her job and taking care of guests.
I am in hotel rooms 100 nights annually, Im spire elite with IHG. New hotels are nice, but its the employees who make the Hotel feel like home. You have a great group of people here, treat them like the rock stars they are. You guys really helped me make the best out of a bad situation. Have a great day!! [Less]
