If you love learning about history but prefer not to do it in a typical museum, plan to spend time at the Acadian Village. You can visit a blacksmith's shop and other realistic settings that might just make you feel you've traveled back in time. Also, consider going to the Arcadiana Park Nature Station, especially in pleasant weather. It's an 150-acre facility that offers guided hikes for visitors.

 

In the mood for some shopping? Look no further than the Acadiana Mall. While there, you can indulge in retail therapy while enjoying the offerings of brands like Victoria's Secret and Buckle. You also might want to go to the Grand Theatre on Johnston Street. It's a 16-screen cinema.

 

Many of the accommodation options in Layfayette are city center options. However, if you're coming to the area for a specific purpose that requires you to spend most of your time outside the city, there are other hotels to the north and south of the most central district. If you're flying in for your trip, staying near the airport could be a smart choice. 

 

Reach Lafayette by car on Highway 182 or Interstate 10. In addition to Lafayette Regional Airport, you might take the Amtrak train or the Greyhound bus.
