Things to See

While you may want to join the 40 million people that visit Minnesota’s famous Mall of America per year, you’ll have to step out of the box to get a true taste of Minneapolis. For those interested in contemporary art, the Walker Art Center (the upper Midwest’s first public art gallery) and the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden offer a feast for the eyes. Looking for an actual feast? Dig into a Korean BBQ pizza at Pizzeria Lola, or indulge in all the meat dishes your heart desires at Butcher & The Boar. Once you’re all fueled up, visit some of Minneapolis’ most notable attractions, including plays at the Fitzgerald Theater or Guthrie Theatre on the banks of the Mississippi River, and concerts, walks, and bike rides at Minnehaha Falls Park. Spend an afternoon on Grand Avenue in Saint Paul to bask in culture by taking in local restaurants and shops or transport yourself to the tropics at the Como Park Zoo and Conservatory.

Hotels in Minneapolis

From areas in downtown or close to the mall, to surrounding cities like Roseville, Shakopee, Rogers, and St. Paul, IHG hotels span widely around the Minneapolis area, offering travelling a wide range to choose from for maximum comfort and convenience. With this type of variety, you can choose a hotel closest to the priority spots on your list that you wish to visit.

Where to Stay

If you’re travelling for work, downtown Minneapolis is likely the most convenient place to stay to get to meetings while staying close to museums, restaurants, and sports or concert venues. If you’re interested in nightlife, downtown and uptown both offer active bars and clubs. Staying in Bloomington (south of downtown Minneapolis) or Eagan (southwest of Bloomington) offers close proximity to the Mall of America. Checking out the University of Minnesota? Roseville is your best bet to get close to the college and visit student hot spots.

How to Get to Minneapolis

Fly in at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport (MSP), made up of two terminals. Trains from the airport to go downtown, providing easy access to your destination. You can also choose Amtrak or Northstar Line trains to get around the city and neighboring suburbs, or hail a cab. Minneapolis’ four designated quadrants, grid system, and multi-colored street signs make getting around town quite easy. Since Minneapolis gets quite cold in the winter and like any city, rains from time to time, the city’s enclosed walkways downtown and widespread bus and light-rail networks are appreciated and commonly used.

Friendly Staff and clean rooms

We loved staying here. The Holiday Inn was extremely accommodating for our wedding guests and all of the services we used through them for our day to be perfect! [Less]

The hotel was in a great location and was very clean. My kids loved the pool area. My family was able to relax and enjoy the stay. Would definitely stay at this hotel again when in the area. [Less]
No continental breakfast

Room was nice and clean. Beds were comfortable. Staff was very nice. We were disappointed to find out this hotel didn't have a continental breakfast. Instead they have a restaurant connected to [More] hotel, which we did not use. [Less]

Excellent hotel choice for this area
By Madi1107
My husband and I stayed here for a wedding. We hadn't stayed at a Holiday Inn in a while and we were really impressed. The hotel was recently renovated and it seemed like they made a lot of good [More] changes. They really picked up on the little details. First, there were free water bottles for our stay. You could get them anytime from the lobby area. We also liked that the card lock wasn't one of those swipe ones where it fails to read your room card about half the time. You just touch the card to the reader and you're in! The room was nicely updated with modern decor. It had a large mini fridge, microwave, and Keurig. We didn't use any of them but now that we know, we will next time. The bathroom was very large and clean. There were a ton of towels and the mirror was big with a lot of lighting. It was great for doing make-up since it was like one of those you tube lighted mirrors. The rest of the room was exactly what you would want--decent sized hanging closet with safe, good size TV with cable, a desk area with plug-ins, a sitting chair and multiple power and USB outlets. The bed came with two sets of pillows which were labeled "soft" and "hard" which was a nice touch. The mattress was probably the only thing I didn't like; it was too soft for me but that is personal preference. The last thing to mention was breakfast. The food was fine, nothing to rave about, but there were both hot (pancake maker, eggs, sausage, omelets, cinnamon rolls, toast/bagel) and cold (cereal, yogurt) options. It was good enough for a free breakfast. We didn't check out the pool or fitness center but it's nice that they have it. [Less]

What made my stay at the Crown Plaza a great experience was the staff! Because, to be honest, the room was below par for what I would have expected from this brand, although, the staff was [More] impeccable. Starting with our house keeper, what a hardworking and pleasant woman, first time I actually wanted to tip a house keeper. But the front desk staff was amazing, especial Patrick. This was my last weekend before I started cancer treatment and my birthday and the front desk staff turned it into my best weekend in a very long time and maybe the last. [Less]
Will Stay again!

How wonderful to be treated by staff that sincerely want to please you! Aneisha, Aaron, Jada all went out of their way to help. If ever coming to downtown Minneapolis I will definitely be staying [More] again. [Less]
