Featured Kansas City Hotels

Kansas City is a major Midwestern hub with 55 million people living within a day’s drive of the city. The diverse range of highlights, from an impressive jazz music scene to performing arts venues, iconic barbecue, are spread throughout the area, so you don’t have to look far to find great hotels in Kansas City or nearby.

Things to See

Founded in 1838, Kansas City boasts long and storied roots in American history that are still visually evident in many attractions. Stop at Clark’s Point and stand on the spot where Lewis and Clark first surveyed the area in 1806. The Harry S. Truman National Historic Site, which includes the one-time home of President Harry S. Truman, dates back to the 1890s and preserves its early 20th century features while offering a glimpse into the early and post-presidential life of this American icon. See Union Station for a prime example of a historic site that’s gained new life from renovations in 1997 to the original 1914 rail station. The Station now houses a planetarium, an interactive science center, a live theatre, a rail exhibit and more. Families will enjoy witnessing and joining in creative construction at LEGOLAND Discovery Center, discovering friendly aquatic creatures at SEA LIFE Aquarium, visiting the 202-acre Kansas City Zoo or the Schlitterbahn Kansas City Water Park. Business travelers as well as those visiting for leisure will enjoy the rich cultural, creative, commercial and culinary offerings of the downtown area, particularly in the Power & Light District epicenter, which hosts more than 50 bars, restaurants, entertainment venues and shops.

Many locations feature outdoor pools for a summer splash, and some offer indoor pools, letting you swim in any season. Kansas City is busiest during the summer and holiday seasons, and low rates during January and February are accompanied by equally low temperatures. You’ll find a comfortable spring shoulder season from March to May, with gradually warmer temperatures and minimal crowds.

Where to Stay

Kansas City straddles the state line between Kansas and Missouri, so you can stay in either state and enjoy accommodations only minutes from the city’s best highlights. If you’re having trouble keeping track of your location, remember that anything west of State Line Road is in the state of Kansas, and hotels east of State Line Road are in Kansas City, Missouri. Stay downtown for easy access to the Library District and Power and Light District. Head further south towards Westport and 39th Street to stay in the heart of the city’s nightlife. Around 18th and Vine you’ll find the bustling jazz district, ideal for visitors interested in barbecue and blues music.

This Candlewood Suites is nice and the staff is very accomodating. Great location off the interstate with plenty of restaurants and shopping near by. [Less]

Friendly staff and clean, comfortable room. However I was disappointed that A/C in the fitness room was ineffective. The clothes dryers in the combined Laundry/Fitness room over powers the A/C [More] unit. You need 2 A/C units in the Laundry/Fitness room. [Less]

We enjoyed our stay at this HI. Hadn't used HI in a number of years and were very impressed with the quality of service, comfort of the room and also enjoyed a good breakfast. Will definitely use [More] HI in the future. [Less]

Very nice hotel but extra noise through walls/ hallway
Great check in experience and a very nice lobby/ rooms. It just seemed like you could hear noises in the hallway or other rooms easier than other places I have stayed. Overall this would not stop [More] me from staying at this Holiday Inn again since it is an excellent facility and the breakfast had a lot to offer. [Less]

We happened upon this hotel by accident. It was a very pleasant one. I was impressed by the atmosphere and the cleanliness of the hotel and room. The mattresses were so comfortable and we had a [More] very good night's sleep. The towels were so soft and luxurious, they made you feel pampered. The complimentary breakfast was awesome. There was an abundance of food to chose from, and it was well stocked and clean. The staff was friendly and caring. Upon arriving home, I found that I had been charged twice. I called the hotel directly and they removed the charge the same day. You can't do better than that! I can't say enough about the hotel. I would recommend it to anyone staying in Kansas City. [Less]
Typical Holiday Inn Express
By Book 451
My title says it all, but in a positive way. The main reason I stay at the Holiday Inn Express is that there are no surprises. I know "EXACTLY" what to expect and this is very important to me. [More] Breakfast is consistent, rooms are near the highway, but the noise isn't that bad. Rooms are dark for sleeping, but well lit if you want that, especially the bathroom. Beds, Pillows, Furniture and general appearance of the room are exactly what I was expecting and that is why I say at Holiday Inn Expresses, almost exclusively while on travel. Staff was friendly, but no wow factor. Food is great if you consider it's free, but to be honest, probably at a McDonald's level of quality. All-in-all I would highly recommend this hotel as it has all that you need [Less]
