They call Philadelphia “The City of Brotherly Love,” and indeed there is plenty to love in this sizable city. It is the largest city in Pennsylvania and the fifth-largest in the U.S. With good information to plan your visit, Philly is a prime place for lots of unforgettable experiences.

Things to See

While sports are a good reason to visit Philly, the city offers plenty other fantastic things to do. Come hungry; Reading Terminal Market is one of the city's top dining attractions. There you can sample the best of Philly's cuisine, whether you are craving an irresistible sandwich or a undeniably decadent dessert.

American history buffs cherish Philadelphia’s rich heritage, which includes landmarks like Independence National Historical Park and the famous Liberty Bell. Stroll through Independence Hall and be sure to say you visited must-see Valley Forge National Historic Park. The Philadelphia Zoo’s 42 acres serve as home to more than 1,300 animals, and its award-winning exhibits will thrill your entire family. You’ll also want to make time to see Longwood Gardens’ impressive display of horticulture.

Science fanatics should not leave without exploring the Franklin Institute, which hosts a walk-through model of a heart, the Sports Challenge, a Changing Earth display and an IMAX theater.

Hotels in Philadelphia

Philadelphia hotels take in a range of guests; some are ideal for solo business travelers while others cater to families. The city isn't exactly a resort destination so you won't find an overabundance of luxury hotels in the city, however there are still numerous options for high tastes, such as the Crowne Plaza property, or more affordable accommodations at Holiday Inn or the cozy Candlewood Suites.

Where to Stay

Old City is a top choice for vacationers in Philadelphia. This is where you'll find the city's top historic attractions as well as numerous shopping and dining options. Plus, the area is easy to walk so you won't have to worry about finding parking. Nearby Society Hill is another solid option; it is quieter than Old City but still close to the city’s core.

How to Get to Philadelphia

Philadelphia International Airport serves the city and the surrounding Pennsylvania area. If your hotel does not provide a shuttle service from the airport, it's easy to hop on public transportation and get into the main part of the city.

Staybridge Suites Mount Laurel
By roseyamigo
Very good choice for Mount Laurel / Marlton. The exercise room is spartan, but they offer complimentary passes to a nearby fitness club. Rooms have a kitchenette adequate for preparing simple meals [More] if you want to avoid nightly restaurants. There are many restaurants nearby, along with grocery stores. Also is convenient to access the metros to Philadelphia. [Less]
Good Bar and food
By FPS47
I found the bartender in the lobby bar to provide very nice friendly service. The bar and food were very good and a good place to hang after work. The overall hotel is a bit dated in its décor [More] and the guest rooms but the staff are very nice and is kept very clean. The breakfast buffet was not as good. It is equivalent to the free breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express but this one cost me more than $10. [Less]
Quality at a good price
By Slider70
Everything about this hotel is exceptional with the following observations that are purely personal and would probably not impact many other guests 1 - The pillows - 1 is too low and 2 is too high [More] - that's just my personal quirk 2 - The heating unit is noisy and when it comes on during the night it woke me up 3 - Starting to serve breakfast at 7 on a weekend may be fine for tourists but when you are attending a business function (or horse show as I was) a 6 o'clock start, the same as weekdays would be better. I can't take advantage of the breakfast whenever I say here because I usually have to be out of the hotel by 6:30 4 - I really don't need every sports channel known to mankind on the TV. Offer more of a balanced selection please [Less]

Nice rooms, clean hotel, poor check-in service
By JoaJ
While the rooms were nice, roomy and clean, the check-in staff was stretched. The night check-in person was downright rude to my son and his new wife. Quite a few rooms were rented for this occasion [More] and when I reached the hotel I found that my room was not ready. I would stay here again, but I would be wary of the check-in process. That is one thing the Staybridge needs to correct. [Less]
Family Hotel!!
By aamears51
My daughter, husband and I loved this hotel. Great atmosphere, nice staff. Loved the pool, we had it to ourselves for most of the time. Breakfast was ok, liked that they gave me a tray and said it [More] was ok to take it back to the room. I was able to bring my family breakfast in bed. [Less]
Great value
The facilities were quire comprehensive- indoor pool, gym, laundry, pantry, offices, though we did not use most of them. The hotel was attractive and clean. The staff was friendly. Aside form a [More] problem checking in (our room was not ready on time and took one hour)- which I attribute to the fact that there were two wedding parties there that day- we had a good time. Our suite was large, clean, and comfortable. We will be staying there again. [Less]
