Things to See

Known as Space City for its longstanding support of America's astronautic adventures, Houston is home to several destinations essential for outer space lovers. The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center serves as the training ground of America's elite astronauts, while the Space Center Houston features a restored replica of the Explorer space shuttle and hands-on lessons on what life is like on a real space mission. Houston features many professional opera companies, as well as symphony, theater, and ballet organizations, and the city’s Museum District ranks among the top in America. This area features 20 museums, all within easy walking distance of each other, including the Children's Museum of Houston, the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, or MFAH: the largest art museum in America's southwest. If you want to reconnect with nature, Houston has over 56,000 acres of park space -- more than any other city in America -- with bike paths and hiking trails to aid tourists in making the most of Houston's natural beauty.

The Houston Airport System is made up of two airports: Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport. Houston also has an often-used Amtrak station. Local taxis have a flat rate of $6 for downtown travel, which lowers the need to navigate the area in a rental car.

Very good hotel and wonderful all-day restaurant
By Mrs. B
Our stay was made enjoyable by the amenities offered at this Holiday Inn. The all-day restaurant where delicious meals are available for breakfast until dinner is the number 1 reason we truly enjoyed [More] our stay. Lunch that is buffet style with a different dish each day was really good: my favorite was Mexican on Wednesday and fish on Thursday. The chef cooks deliciously with flavorful dishes that excite the palate. Ana at lunch and Daniel who serves at dinner give 5-star service. They also have a 24-hour gym. It's a small one but it has all one needs to get a good workout. We never got to try the pool, but it's right beside the gym. Their business center works wonderfully; two flat screen computers are available for use that are connected to a printer that works nicely. The lobby offers a relaxing place to sit; its design is very appealing. The manager (Mr. Mejia) was present on the floor and it was comforting to know that he makes sure everything is working fine.
