This Texas destination caters to tourists of many interests, but whatever your tastes, IHG® has Houston hotels that will help you get the most out of your visit.

Things to See

Known as Space City for its longstanding support of America's astronautic adventures, Houston is home to several destinations essential for outer space lovers. The Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center serves as the training ground of America's elite astronauts, while the Space Center Houston features a restored replica of the Explorer space shuttle and hands-on lessons on what life is like on a real space mission. Houston features many professional opera companies, as well as symphony, theater, and ballet organizations, and the city’s Museum District ranks among the top in America. This area features 20 museums, all within easy walking distance of each other, including the Children's Museum of Houston, the John P. McGovern Museum of Health and Medical Science, and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, or MFAH: the largest art museum in America's southwest. If you want to reconnect with nature, Houston has over 56,000 acres of park space -- more than any other city in America -- with bike paths and hiking trails to aid tourists in making the most of Houston's natural beauty.

Where to Stay

Houston's downtown area is a popular choice for travelers, as it has a wide variety of hotels within close proximity to restaurants, shopping malls, sporting venues, and cultural hotspots. The uptown Galleria area appeals to travelers seeking luxury hotels, gourmet dining and high-end shopping. The pedestrian-friendly Museum District is a great option for visitors who wish to see many of Houston’s cultural institutions during their stay, while the Hobby Airport/Third Ward neighborhood’s South Houston hotels are conveniently close to one of Houston's airports and some of its most unique restaurants.

How to Get to Houston

The Houston Airport System is made up of two airports: Bush Intercontinental Airport and Hobby Airport. Houston also has an often-used Amtrak station. Conveniently, both the Sunset Limited train (running between New Orleans to Los Angeles) and the Texas Eagle (running between Chicago to San Antonio) stop here. Houston's METRORail and METRO buses make transportation easy, giving travelers more freedom to choose where they stay. Local taxis have a flat rate of $6 for downtown travel, which lowers the need to navigate the area in a rental car.

I had no problems with the hotel except for the shuttle service to and from our wedding venue. We had a large group and you ensured us that we'd have no problems. Guests had to wait nearly an [More] hour after the scheduled pick up time because of only 1 shuttle van running. Not what we were told or expected. Several guests ended up taking an uber back to the hotel because of the long wait. [Less]

Only downside was cost of breakfast and relative quality of the food offered. Was very impressed with everything else. Ease of checking in, timely service and responsive staff. Free shuttle to hotel [More] available starting at 5. I'd definitely return to this hotel if I'm in the area again. [Less]
Awesome Hotel
By Tractor Man
The new Bush Intercontinental Holiday Inn hotel really blew us away. Even though close to Bush Intercontinental Airport, location is placed in such an area that airplane noise is not noticeable and [More] slept very well. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in this area. Staff is very friendly and helpful, room was immaculate. Really like the decorations and amenities this hotel has to offer. [Less]
Passing through
By RESA
Traveling across country this central Huston location was perfect for a few days of rest. The room was comfortable with a view of the city. I was resting and called on room service that needed more [More] staff as I had to wait for food delivery up to 2 hours al.ost every day on my 4 day stay. The food was alright if you don't mind eating a hot meal cold.I suggest that you make every effort to enjoy meals in the restaurant or another location. Staff was friendly and remembered my name. I value that. I suggest that if you are traveling across the country without destination points and stay with any hotel you sit in the parking lot and book the room [Less]
Very helpful staff and convenient location
By robotdad
I picked this hotel primarily for its location, since it's right downtown and only a block away from a stop on Houston's "Red" Metro line. Room and bed were both quite comfortable, as I had [More] expected. The pleasant surprise was how friendly and helpful the staff were -- especially Ana and Kevin. Both went out of their way to make sure my needs were met. I'll definitely stay here again the next time I'm in Houston. [Less]
