Tradition and culture, with a side of innovation, is exactly what you’ll find in Ho Chi Minh City. This vivacious metropolis, formerly known as Saigon, perfectly captures everything there is to know and love about Vietnam.

No matter what district, street or attraction you step into—prepare to wow all of your senses—especially at night when the city really comes alive. Walk through local markets, buzzing with energy and lined with vendors selling everything from soft silk fabrics to fresh produce and interesting souvenirs. Take in the beautiful Asian and French colonial inspired architecture along with modern-day skyscrapers adorning Ho Chi Minh’s skyline. And as you tour the city on foot, awaken your nose, which will then awaken your hungry stomach, with the delicious aroma of Vietnamese foods and spices.

Go back in time and learn more about the country’s history with a visit to the Independence Palace, also known as the Reunification Palace, and the Saigon Notre Dame Cathedral. Visually, both are beautiful and impressive, and each tells their own story of Vietnam history.

For a true cultural experience, stop by the picturesque Vinh Nghiem Pagoda. It’s Ho Chi Minh City’s largest Mahayana pagoda, as well as a place to enjoy a peaceful, meditative morning or a lively cultural celebration, depending on when you visit.

And what’s a trip to Ho Chi Minh City without a little shopping? Saigon Square puts you inside contemporary Saigon. This modern shopping mall has some of the best bargains around—and perhaps best of all, it’s under cover and air conditioned, so the city’s average 80-plus degree weather won’t ruin your shopping day. But if a local market is what your heart is set on, then take your wallet and haggling skills to Ben Thanh Market. You’ll meet and mingle with several locals, and if you’re there at night, you’ll enjoy a tasty dinner from one of the evening food stalls.

Besides Ben Thanh Market, for your sense of taste, Vietnam’s economic capital is home to an array of delectable cuisine. French, Japanese, Chinese and Korean—you’ll find them all here. But many travelers prefer trying the favorite Vietnamese dishes, like banh mi and pho, made best by the local restaurants and numerous street food stalls.

Another great thing about Ho Chi Minh City is that its best hotels aren’t just near all the action and attractions; they’re clean, charming and very cost-effective. If you’re looking to save time, get the lowest hotel price and earn points for future rewards, book your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City with IHG’s Your Rate.

So, are you ready to uncover the sights, sounds, smells and tastes Ho Chi Minh City has to offer? If you are, find a Ho Chi Minh, Saigon hotel that puts you right in the middle of all that this unique city has to offer. We know you’ll fall in love with this city the moment you arrive.

Had a fantastic stay at InterContinental Residences Saigon. The Hotel truly stands out and service level is fantastic. Also compared to other InterContinental Hotels in the region, this one is two [More] notches up. Keep on going with the good work. Residence itself is very spacious with separate living room and couldn't ask for anything more. Only downside was that there wasn't any special recognition of my IHG status upon check-in. [Less]

It could cause food poisoning. I have reported to the Restaurant manager and sample was examined and agreed.
