My sister and I live in Perth, and decided to take a quick trip to Melbourne to see one of our favourite authors on tour for the final book in her series. The event was to be held at the Athenaeum
Theatre, and we wanted a hotel that was not only as close to the venue as possible, but met all our needs. We are delighted to report that 'Intercontinental Melbourne The Rialto' delivered on all accounts.
From the beautiful historical façade, friendly and personable staff, to our cosy room (containing quite possibly the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in) and the delicious buffet breakfast (be sure to try the friands), it was everything we wanted and hoped for.
While all of this made for a truly memorable stay, I must mention that not only were we permitted to check-in early (which was amazing as we arrived well before 3pm and wanted nothing more than to get to our room and deposit our bags), but we were given a voucher for two complimentary drinks at the Market Lane Bar after I mentioned my sister would be turning 18 during our stay. Such customer service is something of a rarity these days, so we were quite surprised but very pleased and appreciative nonetheless-it really made a world of difference.
All in all, my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this fine establishment. We both agree that should either (or both) of us find ourselves in Melbourne again, we wouldn't hesitate to stay here and take full advantage of the thoughtful and 'luxurious' service the staff here clearly have down to a fine art.
