So… let me tell you a little story about my unbelievable stay at Holiday Inn Express. Firstly it was so much more than what I was expecting. I was in town for a work trip and this hotel blew my mind
for the moment I walked in the doors. As my taxi travelled through the streets of Belgrade I really did not know what to expect of this express hotel. As I popped out my rollie suitcase and walked through the doors my mind was set at ease.
The as the glass doors opened for me I was greeted with a gust of perfectly warm air a beautiful change to the cold air that swirled around me on my taxi trip. I walked up to the front desk and the amazingly friendly desk host greeted me with a smile and perfect English. He helped me check in and let me know that my room was ready now and I could head on up. Oh the wonderful words of your room is ready after 35 hours on planes could not have been met with more internal excitement. He also told me all about where to find breakfast the next morning and of course the all-important how to connect to the Wi-Fi. He then offered to help my with my bags to my room but I was more than able to wheel my own suitcase so I said that it wouldn’t be a worry and off I set to find my room.
Up in the elevator I went to a room that once again exceeded my expectations. The clean fresh smell, the fresh carpets, crisp white towels and the bed oh how my weary head ached for the bed. The options of both hard and soft pillows made my little heart skip a beat and as I climbed into the warm embrace of the doona (or duvet as you call it over there) I was quick to drift off to sleep and the block out curtains did their job and made my midday nap one that was not interrupted but noise or light.
Upon waking I headed to the shower, how lovely it is to find a shower that is not hard to understand when on holidays. Perfect water temperature and great pressure I was even able to wash my hair without having to rinse for 10 minutes to get all the conditioner out. The in house blow dryer did the trick in getting my locks dry and the towels were just the right balance of soft without being too soft. My complements to the laundry team. About the only down fall was that I had to straighten my hair in the reflection of the television screen as there was no power points next to a mirror but such a minor thing to have to worry about.
Then off to reception again where I was greeted by a different yet just as friendly staff member. She gave me walking directions to my next location and also told me that it should only take about 10 minutes to get to where I was going. She said if I got lost that I could call the hotel and she would put me back on the right path but she also said that it was not likely that I would get lost. She was right, I found the place with no problems at all. Upon returning that night (much later after dinner) she once again greeted me and welcomed me back to the hotel, it is little service things like this that I really find to be the difference when on a work trip.
The next morning as I headed down for breakfast I found it pleasant to be able to look out over the courtyard as I ate my croissant and all the other food was just as enjoyable too. I then packed up my suitcase and headed for the door. I had reception order me a taxi to take me to my event that day as I would be leaving from the conference and while it was walking distance the thought of rolling a 25kg suitcase was not appealing, she could see there was a taxi outside the building and went to check if he was able to take a fare. She also wonderfully translated for me where I would need to go and told me to expect a price (something the I really appreciate when traveling) she also took my email so that I would be able to fill in the customer feedback response and did not hold me up with endless paperwork. That lead me to this point of writing this review. Really when it comes to service this hotel when above and beyond but not only were the staff accommodating the room, bed and bathroom facilities were way more than I was expecting. Oh and I forgot to mention, my little room had a small couch too. I really loved that my morning cup of tea could be had in my room without having to sit on my bed or at the provided desk space it is little things like this that really make the difference when sipping a hot cuppa and looking out over the view of a different city. Not only would I choose to stay here again if I was ever in town I would also highly recommend this hotel for those in town for business of pleasure. For the price you could not ask for better. [Less]
