F & C in LA.
The worst HIE experience we had thusfar.
BUT! The Staff saved the day (which is my reason for the 'Overall' 5 star rating). It's how they handled it.
Please read to the end to be fair.
staying in 17 HIE's around the Pacific Coast States, we had many comparisons with what to expect from any HIE. However, this LA facility was different.
It's an older building scheduled to be closed soon for three months of total renovations. It's very dated at present. The style is unique, the rooms lead outside, not to traditional hallways, but the outdoor areas are mostly covered from the rain. What we didn't expect was that it's on a very, very busy street. I know, It's LA, It's busy everywhere in LA. However, along with busy in LA goes NOISY. Apparently, the Californians are vey proud of custom mufflers on cars and motorcycles. It must be a California law that these accessories can only be used between the hours of 10PM and 4AM nightly. Since no room in this facility is far from busy streets on two sides of the building, you hear everything outside which affects sleeping. In addition to what is a disappointing location, we didn't get the room we booked. The desk clerk, K, did all he could including calling the "Owner", but nothing more could done late the first night.
Second day: J, the customer relations person and S, the day clerk addressed our concerns. To make this already long story short, J, S and K changed our room to the level we expected and made account adjustments which helped. They couldn't have been more helpful in the end. They took care of us.
We would stay there again knowing they can't do anything about the location. However, with the upcoming renovations (which I hope will include Windows good enough to keep out 'Airport' noise) and hopefully the same staff, we would look forward to it.
