This hotel is beautiful and modern. The location is great if you need to be in the financial district of fairly close to Staples Center, etc. The elevator system isn't nearly as confusing as some
have said. It is different, but not that complicated. The staff is friendly and the hotel is brand new. The views from my room and the lobby on the 70th floor are worth it on their own. The drinks are each bar are pricey, but well made.
The bad: Do not eat there. Period. The prices are very high. That is to be expected in the middle of Los Angeles, and it would be fine if the food was good. They managed to make a Caesar Salad, with visible amounts of dressing, completely tasteless. It was so lacking in taste it was actually an accomplishment. Yet, that paled in comparison to the $69 French Toast I ordered through room service. 4 thick and beautiful half slices. They nailed the presentation. The taste.....take a piece of bread, dip it in plain egg yoke, fry it, and close your eyes and imagine you are in Los Angeles. If you follow those steps you will nail the experience. The three pieces of bacon were visibly dry from a distance. The French Toast actually topped the salad in the Bland Hall of Fame. For the first time in my life, I disputed a hotel charge. I refused to pay for that breakfast. There is one more story that I will skip. The $45 cheeseburger and fries are great. Just order them at one of the restaurants so it will only cost your $25 or $35. The same burger has different prices depending on where you order it. It isn't worth $45, but it is very good.
In both of the latter incidents, the staff quickly remedied the matters. Very professional and prompt. The Concierge gave me a food service app and I was able to order meals when I didn't have time to walk to a restaurant in the area. It must be said, there are many options within a couple of blocks, so you aren't limited to room service.
I will recommend this hotel and I will stay again. I will not order food service. I am a Platinum Ambassador, but my status never appears on my reviews. [Less]
