On the night before New Year's Eve, my husband and I stayed at the Morgantown Holiday Inn on our way home from Lancaster County, as it's located conveniently right off of the turnpike. Since
Morgantown isn't really a "destination," and there's not much around, I wasn't expecting more than a bed for the night and breakfast in the morning ... but boy, was I wrong!
We were blown away by how lovely and modern the hotel is -- there's a gorgeous pool and hot tub right in the soaring atrium lobby; a great bar/lounge area; and a spacious dining room. The hotel was decorated for the Christmas holidays, which made it even lovelier. We had dinner at the lounge, as it was too cold to even think about going out, and the food was wonderful. Breakfast was great as well; we had the choice of using the buffet or ordering off the the menu at no extra charge.
The room itself was impressive, too: There was a king-sized bed in the "bedroom" area, and then a sofa, chairs and desk in the "living room" (separated by a small panel). Our window overlooked the atrium, so we could peek out at the bar/lounge and pool area -- no staring at blank walls! :-) The room also had a Keurig coffee maker, microwave and refrigerator -- very handy for longer stays, I'm sure!
The only glitch in the room was the heating system -- since we were on the fourth (top) floor, it was already warm, and the heat was set at 74; I couldn't figure out how to lower it, so we ended up just putting on the air conditioning instead. (To be fair, I'm sure I could've called the desk to ask for help, but at that point I was so tired that even a phone call seemed like too much work :-D )
Finally, the staff could not have been nicer or more cheerful: Big thanks to Taleah at the front desk, Jenna in the bar/lounge and Anna in the breakfast room! They all helped to make our expected "forgettable" stay into a memorable one :-) [Less]
