It's easy to explore this sunny, good-natured Victorian capital from our Holiday Inn® Melbourne hotels. Take a relaxed Aussie approach to sightseeing, with unhurried mornings at Queen Victoria Market and picnics in one of Melbourne's many parks.
Our hotels in Melbourne are a short ride from the center, where getting around is a breeze with the free city circle tram and sightseeing bus. Begin on strikingly postmodern Federation Square, home to the free Ian Potter Center, displaying indigenous Australian art. Across the river is its sister museum, the free National Gallery of Victoria, whose outstanding collection comprises Rembrandt and Warhol masterpieces. Our Melbourne hotels are close to Flinders Street Station, an Edwardian landmark with a decorative clock tower. Take your kids to see the living rainforest at the Melbourne Museum, or the squawking cockatoos flying overhead at the free Royal Botanic Gardens. When the sun shines, Melbourne's sandy beaches beckon.
Our Melbourne hotels are close to atmospheric Queen Victoria Market, which opened in 1878 and today sells farm produce, souvenirs and inexpensive clothing. Take a break with a coffee and pastry or snacks like pizza and sausages at one of the market's little cafes. Specialty stores huddle under the soaring glass roof of Melbourne's Royal Arcade. For good-value Chinese food fresh from the wok, explore neon-lit Chinatown, going strong since the gold rush of the 1850s. The city center is packed with restaurants and bars, serving everything from hearty pub grub to Modern European cuisine. Picnickers can enjoy the free barbecue facilities sprinkled throughout Melbourne's public parks and gardens.
Stay in our Melbourne hotels in summer for a feast of cricket, music and film festivals and lazy beach days. The Melbourne International Arts Festival, the biggest of its kind in Australia, is a true autumn highlight.
A points redemption stay much enjoyed and made special by the care and attention of your outstanding staff - nothing was too much trouble.[Less]
Very comfortable hotel with good location in the city center
Good location, very comfortable rooms, delicious breakfasts, kind and professional staff, nice gym
The only problem was: water in the swimming pool seemed to be dirty and therefore we did not use[More] the pool.[Less]
Check in person indifferent
I had booked a Club stay and paid for Ambassador status. The check in woman gave us a poor dark small room on the 4th floor.
When I went to the Club lounge I asked to be moved and we were[More] immediately moved to a Club level room on the 6th floor, large and airey and very pleased but should have needed to ask.[Less]
Great hotel in great location.
The hotel is well placed with nearby access to transportation and eateries. Staff are polite and helpful and the rooms are comfortable and functional. The beds are great but the pillows are a bit too[More] big. The restaurant is good and again, the staff are friendly and efficient. Overall a great place to stay, and in easy walking distance to the Crown complex and Southbank.[Less]
Home away from home

We chose the Holiday Inn Flinders Lane for a 5 night stay during the Australian Open 2019. I love the floor to ceiling windows which all rooms have. We chose to stay in a suite rather than a room[More] due to the length of our stay. It was just perfect, plenty of room, furnishings very good and great bathroom. Easy access to everything Melbourne has to offer.[Less]
Great location and friendly staff
Excellent location close to the Southern Cross station which makes it super convenient if you got the SkyBus into the city from the airport. Friendly staff to greet us and a really nice room for our[More] family of 4 looking out into Flinders lane and into the trees there! Would recommend as a great place to stay![Less]
Overall great room and comfortable bed
- Scales not working
- Rubbish found under lounge
- Slow room service during the night hours[Less]
Great hotel and location
Great hotel and location, however it was a shame as an IHG member of over 15 years I couldn’t redeem IHG points simply because I booked this as a holiday package through Virgin.
When booking, I[More] purposely selected the Crown Plaza as l love all IHG hotels, therefore I thought it only fair I am able to redeem some points for my stay.[Less]
Crowne Plaza Melbourne

Arriving at Melbourne airport at 11.00pm meant that we needed a reasonably accessible hotel to rest after the long haul from UK before moving on. We wanted easy access a late (middle of the night)[More] check, a comfortable bed, a restful night and a bit of a lie-in. Check-in was friendly, helpful and highly efficient. The room was fine and the bed good. We have regularly used IHG hotels and know their standards. We weren't disappointed and again made the right decision.[Less]
