My initial thought was to have an overnight stay in Holiday Inn Penang and to bring my father for a short holiday as my father just did a surgery to remove a Cancerous Tumor, but little did I know, I
would be extending my stay thanks to the service by the staffs.
The Check In (14/9)
I have to thank the reception desk, Ms Tasya ? I'm sorry as I can't remember her exact name, but nevertheless she was warm and welcoming. She even asked Mr Padma to take me to the room as the Door Keys were initially not working properly.
What would have made the stay even more memorable was to have a complimentary breakfast, at least as it was raining literally every morning while I was there luckily we had bought some sandwich from a nearby convenience store about 10 minutes walk away the previous night. (I did request, but was told that Holiday Inn do not extend complimentary breakfast, and I had to pay RM 50.00 nett per person to enjoy Breakfast)
We were given complimentary drinks that we need to redeem, it was a Nutmeg juice, sour but with a hint of sweetness. Just nice.
The Room (#1031)
2 queen sized bed, the bed was comfortable, I would like to also partly blame the comfort of the room for me to extend my stay (hahaha). Toiletries were complete, clean and welcoming. Overall the room was comfortable and my only complain is the TV, as some channels were blurry/ static and it's just annoying. Anyway, the rain caused the satellite TV programs to be temporarily unavailable.
A little bit aged room, but still in very good condition.
View, blocked by the Beach wing and Park Royal, so if you are looking to have a sunset view, it would be best to get a Higher floor, or go for the Beach View Room at the opposite block.
Food/Dining at Lobby Lounge
As it was raining heavily, my father being still recovering from the surgery, we decided to have dinner at the Lobby Lounge at the Beach Tower, facing the beach.
We ordered Italian and some Indian cuisine, I would recommend the Chicken Tandoori, it was perfect in anyway possible. The Macaroni and Cheese was not worth the money, plus the chefs were well known Indian Cuisine chefs, so it's probably a good idea to enjoy what they cook best. You guessed it, Indian food :) Yummy!
Disappointed when I was told that I could not charge the bill to my room ?! This is my first encounter where I could not charge my bills to the room.
Check Out 16/9
Well, the check out was fast, friendly, and smooth. I didn't have to wait long before I was able to get my deposit back.
The only thing I want to highlight is the Exit towards the junction, Cars and Busses would park on the right of the exit, block the view of incoming traffic. It's a big "NO NO" for any respectable establishment. There was clearly a parking area for busses, but there was simply no enforcement by the municipal or the Hotel Security. Driving out of the Hotel is a risky task, and you have to be extremely patient. [Less]
