Featured Chester Hotels

Choose one of our Holiday Inn® Chester hotels and within minutes you'll be walking along the immaculately preserved ancient city walls and taking in the beauty of medieval Chester.

Our hotels in Chester, England, are just moments from the famous Chester Rows, covered walkways that date from the 13th and 14th centuries and make Chester's charming city center as historic as it is eye-catching. The impressive black-and-white wood-clad facades in the center of the city give way to wider boulevards as you travel toward the River Dee and the imposing Chester Castle, near the historic Chester Racecourse. It's free to tour Chester Castle, in constant use for some 2,000 years. Discover a little about Chester's past as an important Roman settlement or admire the collection of Victorian paintings in the Grosvenor Museum. Then relax in nearby Grosvenor Park, where wooded walkways lead you to a secluded "magic" well.

Nearly all the city's restaurants, bars and traditional pubs are located within the city walls and close to our Chester hotels. Take a trip to the riverside and sip on a local ale in a pub beer garden. Or sample award-winning fare in one of the on-course restaurants on the Chester Racecourse, where you can place bets on a horse race or two while you dine. Our Chester hotels are also just a short drive from the hills of North Wales and the Peak District.

Book our Chester hotels and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of ancient Chester any time of year. Visit in the summer for the Chester Summer Music Festival. Bring the kids in October for the Shell Chester Literature Festival, which celebrates the written word and offers a popular children's mini-festival, GobbleDEEbook.

Friendly staff and comfortable room
By WhydoItravelwithkids
After a long car journey and having a very tired little boy, the staff were very friendly and ensured we had a speedy check-in and made sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. Would recommend [More] Holiday to all my friends [Less]
Business Stay

My only two issues with this hotel are as follows, wifi was very poor even as a IHG guest, mentioned it at check out and was told it was being upgraded, would have been nice to be told on arrival [More] that the wifi was poor... service charge, i don't mind paying a service charge but when it is put on your bill and you question it then be told it can betaken off without any explanation was confusing, i was then shown a menu with the service charge worded at the bottom of the menu, so small it was beyond my eye sights capacity to read.... make it clear upfront in better size font so your guests know they are paying extra for service.... Lovely hotel one minute from centre of Chester everything clean and tidy lovely bar area. Staff were wonderful polite friendly and very helpful a credit to hotel would stay again if went to Chester [More] definitely. Only downside was bathroom which was badly in need of refurbishment but this would not stop us returning apparently the hotel is being demolished and a new one built next door will definitely be staying again when the new one built. Would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Chester [Less]

Birthday Weekend
By Col Knoxy
I planned this trip as a birthday present for my wife - a special landmark birthday - the hotel is an integral part of this experience...and it delivered on all counts. the room was lovely, the staff [More] excellent, the facilities marvellous - couldn't fault anything - and made a special weekend just a bit more extra special. Fits the bill
I needed a hotel close to where I had business and this hotel fits the bill quite nicely. Friendly and efficient staff, in my experience, with a nice comfortable air and atmosphere throughout. [More] The only negative point for me was the maze of corridors to get to the room and if you have room numbers in the 400 area it seems like an eternity to get to them but don't let that put you off, a bit of exercise never hurt anyone! Breakfast was of a good quality with extremely attentive staff catering for all your needs. [Less]
Great for a stopover
By Bruce08
Very peaceful and quiet, room good value for money, reception staff very good, Bar staff too fussy, breakfast staff took 3 attempts to get drinks right, and I missed porridge for breakfast, and found [More] some of the cooked breakfast dried up. In general felt the breakfast was not good value for money, compared to rival hotels we have stayed at. [Less]
Great experience overall but not cheap!
By Debs Doncaster
We had a great experience at the hotel despite an incident involving another guest which was completely out of their control. Staff behaved professionally and in a friendly manner throughout the [More] visit. The outside appearance of the hotel was not at all appealing but the interior completely made up for it and looked great. The hotel was not cheap and we only paid that price because it was via a rewards scheme. The breakfast was also expensive despite being nothing special, Furthermore it took a long time to get seated and we were told to wait to be served coffee which would have take ages had we actually listened. I would have been much happier to have doe both things myself in order to access breakfast much more quickly. We also watched a film in the room which was difficult as it kept pausing as the connection caught up with itself. Again I would have expected better for the price. [Less]
