Latest San Diego Hotel Reviews

Good room, best "free" breakfast, great location
By Datman
The hotel was one of the options available through Southwest on a vacation package. Have done three vacations to San Diego this way. This was the best of the three hotels that we have used. [More] Excellent location in Mission Valley and was central to everything we wanted to do. The room was exactly what would be expected for this level of hotel, not exceptional, but clean with a good bed for sleeping. Liked that the bathroom had only a shower rather than the tub/shower combination most hotels have. As far as the express breakfast. Ate there every morning and felt like it was a good start to the day. Pancake machine was a level of entertainment not just good pancakes. Only issue was housekeeping neglected dumping the garbage on one day, so don't know what else they missed. Will consider staying here again if visiting San Diego. [Less]
Vacation trip to San Diego
By wvjason
We stayed here for our family vacation. This hotel is probably only about 1 to 2 years old so it is in excellent condition and it has all the great new features. We will stay here again. Staff was [More] awesome...very helpful. Be warned that parking is not free and this is a pretty kid popular destination. I knew this when I booked so it wasn't a problem for me. Only criticism I have is that the staff is short for the amount of people that eat breakfast and had a hard time keeping up. If I return to SD I will stay here. [Less]
Day trip
By Grandma D
This hotel is new and clean! The property is well maintained. We arrived and were greeted promptly. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. The rooms are [More] quiet. We did go to the pool and kids swam a bit but ended up in the jacuzzi! The property is close to Old Town and has easy freeway access. The breakfast area is large and food was replenished frequently. If you're looking for a place to sleep while visiting San Diego attractions this hotel fits the bill. [Less]
Great Service Breakfast OK
By All Might
First let me state that the hotel was just about everything I expected and wanted. The staff was awesome and every single time I had a question or needed something, they were quick to help out. The [More] rooms had plenty of room and beds were quite comfortable. The pillows were a little soft for my taste but that wasn't too much of a problem as I expected it and took my own pillow. The cleaning service is some of the best I've been around. They kept the room in pristine condition and even took the time to organize my daughter's stuffed animals. The amenities were a little light in my opinion. The pool I thought was too small. It could easily get crowded with just a couple of adults there. The gym was ok and with enough to get a decent workout. My biggest issue was with breakfast. I thought that the breakfast was good however, there was no variety. The same food was served every single day and it got kind of old after a few days. The location of the hotel is also a little misleading as it states it is the sea world hotel however, sea world is a few exits down. The street in which it is located is horrible although I know this is a San Diego problem and not the hotel. Overall, I really really enjoyed my stay. I look forward to staying in the same hotel on my next visit. [Less]
Clean
By Manny
It was pretty clean. I wish they would clean my room daily though, like how I have experienced at other hotels before. [Less]
Comfy bed, clean room
By Zelda
This is my second time staying at this hotel. My boyfriend specifically requested we stay here because he loved the king size bed and the breakfast variety. I loved the clean bed, bathroom, and [More] friendly staff. [Less]
Little gem in downtown San Diego
By EsmeInFrance
Pleasantly surprised to find such a smartly renovated Holiday Inn Express in the middle of town. All the familiar comforts of my favorite hotel chain but new design has a great contemporary feel. I [More] was early and the staff was able to get me into a room - what a relief after hours of flying! Generous happy hour for guests topped off the evening and I went to bed with a smile on my face. Very clean - great value for the dollar. I'll be back {3 [Less]
Friendly staff
By CV123
I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Express Hotels. The San Diego Downtown is a great location to walk to restaurants and the waterfront. The shuttle service to and from the airport and area [More] attractions is a huge plus for this hotel. ALL the staff we encountered, from the reception desk, shuttle driver, and happy hour hostess were friendly and welcoming. Staff made a positive difference at this hotel to make guests feel welcome.
