First time staying at this Holiday Inn.
First, the location is great. 1/2 block off Market right down the street from the Orpheum (Hamilton starts next month!) Theater, around the corner from a
starbucks, and 1 block from the Twitter building/Market area. Took BART and Muni everywhere. Very easy to catch right on the corner. The area is up and coming. There are a lot of people in this area, a real mix including a lot of homeless which is common near market. I always felt safe, but this is part of the area.
The hotel was welcoming and staff was wonderful. Checkin was easy. The lobby is simple and sleek. There is a restaurant and a small bar area. There were a lot of groups during our stay, so from time-to-time, large groups are gathering in the lobby and there were tour buses coming and going.
Note this is a holiday inn. Breakfast is not included (not expected), but great to have a restraurant/bar area.
Our room was on the upper floors and very good quality. We've stayed at other Holiday Inns, and this is one of the nicer ones - clean and fresh. While the hotel is likely an older building, the rooms seemed newer and lobby very new.
My only recommendations:
1) No pantry or similar to pick up any extras. There is ice and coke vending on each floor with a sign saying more vending on floor 4, but the vending area on floor four is empty. There is a small food venting matching next to the front desk, but I didn't see this until we were leaving. Recommend hotel update the signage that says additional vending next to lobby (rather than floor 4)
2) No refrig in the room, but there is space for this. Would love to have one at no fee :) Might be worthwhile to consider for the deluxe rooms.
3) Really minor, but no trash in hall way - we don't have room cleaning, so we bring our trash out daily, but I couldn't find a trash can in the hall way or next to elevator...
Overall, very good stay. We'll be back! [Less]
