I don't like paying a lot of money for a motel/motel....mainly want clean, safe, convenient, and reasonably well maintained. This stop was more than my normal outlay but, considering it was ocean
front on Jekyll Island, the price really wasn't bad. Any staff I encountered were very nice folks. Any questions I had were taken care of. I had one need (the key card stopped working on one of my two exterior doors) and it was corrected immediately. I could tell by the structure and design it is an older property but everything was quite well maintained. I would recommend an ocean front room vs. street side as the few dollars more was well worth it. It appears to be about an equal number of street side and ocean side rooms on just two stories. I asked for and got the lower floor which I also recommend. 2nd floor, ocean side has a balcony but you still have to walk downstairs to get to the ground level. The 1st floor, ocean sides have patios and one can just walk out to back door to the patio and keep going to the pool or beach....nice sitting out there with morning coffee in the sea breezes If you're older like me, 1st floor is also a much easier luggage haul. There's a restaurant immediately next door (think it has some association with the Holiday but is independent of the Holiday). Very convenient and we liked it. We only ate there on our 1st night and for breakfast the next morning....no reflection on the restaurant...we opted to try different restaurants each day.
