Welcomed to the Big Apple with a hot apple cider, our check-in was smooth, speedy and even came with an upgrade to a larger room – and all despite the fact that we were two hours early.

finishing off our ciders in the gorgeous cafe on the 14th floor (a place from which we would watch the sunrise every day of our trip, complete with hot coffee, newspapers and basketball on the big screen), we went to the room.
Amenities (refreshments, soft furnishings and toiletries) were all of a superb standard, though must report that the room itself was a little on the grimy side (stains on the floor-to-ceiling artwork, some grime around the floors and on the desk) – but, grateful for a beautiful bed and excellent view of the World Trade Center and Chrysler Building, we decided that any dirt was "simply New York" and let it go.
Overall, despite the fact that there is a popular bar and nightclub in the hotel, we had three very sound nights sleep.
Room service was very quick and the food was delivered hot – both important things, especially to the jet-lagged visitor!
Turning to our staff for restaurant recommendations, they were very polite and helpful, suggesting a range of local options with different price points – very clever, as it puts all guests at ease. Following two of the recommendations during our trip, both were well chosen and would suggest speaking to the team (Maro and Stevie, in particular), any time!
Location was excellent, overall – we walked half the island in a day, and were a stone's throw from subway stations that took us all around the other. The hotel is also just far enough away from the major tourist spots that we had some peace and quiet, with enough delis, boutiques and restaurants to make you feel like you're in "real" NYC.
On our departure, the team quickly took care of our check out, and stored our bags with no fuss, even arranging transport for us (special thanks must go to Alex on the Concierge team, who organised a great cab for us when we had a sudden change of plans). Be warned, Indigo-ers, that the cabs will probably try to rip you off if they know you are staying here.
Finally, happier note, I lost some winter warmers in the city – and the whole Indigo team tried very hard to find them, an effort which is so appreciated!! [Less]
