Great customer service
By Joysmomma
The front desk staff was wonderful. We had to be moved due to renovations so they gave us complimentary drink coupons for the restaurant next door due to the inconvenience. We did not use them but [More] it was very nice they did that. It was not an issue to be moved. They took us to the Ferry and picked us up as scheduled. Staff was very friendly. Nice restaurants close by. Close to freeway. About 20 minutes to the Ferry. [Less]
Great stay for a great price in a quality hotel.
By Jerry-2016
When I first booked the room I made a mistake on the date I was staying at the hotel. I then called the hotel to fix my error, and the staff were great to help me fix it immediately. In fact, I had [More] booked my stay originally for a "Weekday", which is a "Lower Price" than a "Friday or Saturday" stay. To my surprise, the staff allowed me to "KEEP MY ORIGINAL BOOKING PRICE AT THE LOWER RATE", even though my stay was "On A Friday", and was corrected to the "Friday Date" that I actually needed. It was my own error in booking for a "Weekday", so you can imagine my surprise when they "HONORED THE PRICE THAT I HAD INCORRECTLY BOOKED", which saved me about $30.00 off my already "Discounted Rate". That's called "Customer Service", and an "Aim To Please", even though "It was my own error". You just don't find that anywhere these days, especially when some hotels have some "Hidden Fees [Less]

Just a getaway to a comfy quiet room away from everything loud and noisy. Relaxed watch the game and had lots of Blue Moon Pumkin Beer on draft from the bar. [Less]

Found hair in bathtub and on floor at arrival. No elevators, so if you have bags, it is a real pain tricking them up stairs. [Less]

Great hotel, uncertain neighborhood
By Van61
If you need to be in Newark, this is a great place to stay. I had a conference at Rutgers and the hotel was convenient, clean, and comfortable. It is close to the Newark Penn Station terminal, which [More] provides very frequent access to NYC via the new World Trade Center transit hub. My only real complaint is that the neighborhood is noisy and at least while I was visiting - was a hotbed of police activity. I could look out my window and believe I was witnessing an episode of COPS, as there were so many sirens and flashing lights going off every few minutes. The hotel is in a very old building that has been restored beautifully, but the windows don't really keep out the sound of the streets. So beware if you are a light sleeper - it may be hard to deal with the distraction. [Less]
