However, I was placed in a room on the front side of the hotel. I have heard stories of train engineers having an ex-girlfriend or wife living near the tracks. When the engineer comes through town, he lays on his horn. I was woken up at least 6 times when the angry ex-hubby train engineer drove by and LAID on the horn. Considering the tracks are about 150 feet away from the front of the building, you can only imagine what that sounds like.
I have stayed at the HIE in College Station. It is quiet, peaceful, and there isn't a train track in sight. If you want a good night's sleep I would recommend driving another 20 minutes and going to College Station. At the very least, get a room on the back side of the building. In my opinion, that is something a spire elite member would have gotten - not front and center with the train horns. [Less]
