Traveling from the Southwest to the Lake District for a job interview can be a daunting endeavor, especially if its night when you are coming back home. Where to have a well deserved rest...
out that Preston, slightly up North from Manchester following the M6, seemed like the perfect place to spend the night, on the journey back. As I didn't want to enter the town at night and possibly get lost, a room in a hotel just by the motorway seemed like the simplest and most convenient way to get a nice sleep.
For the price and location, the choice for me was easy: Preston's Holiday Inn Express. I just wanted a room with a shower and a bed that seemed clean, but to be honest the photographs don't make the place justice. After dealing with the staff at reception (really nice and helpful people) I got my Internet password and the keycard to my room, and was surprised by how smart and clean everything looked. Apart from the bed, that was perfect, there were plugs everywhere, so setting up my phone was really easy. The bathroom was really clean and looked hi-tech, really liked the shower.
Unexpectedly, what I liked the most was the desk with the chair. In many places you can't find a desk where you can work with the computer or simply read a newspaper comfortably. I liked the desk lamp as well, extremely convenient. The room simply looked extremely well tuned up to my needs.
You can have dinner until really late if you feel like it, and the breakfast is included. I couldn't afford to use any of those services due to the nature of my journey. I will have dinner next time for sure.
I can't recommend this place enough for business travelers, it's really good for the price, you have free parking for the car, getting back to the M6 it's easy.
All in all, a nice experience I'd like to repeat. [Menos]
