Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Noticeable Change in Approach Having stayed at this hotel many times over the years and most recently in November last. There would seem a real change in atmosphere and approach which I can only attribute to the change in management. The hotel is newly franchised with Kew Green (Portsmouth) Ltd. Room was basic but ok as standard. Staff seemed to lack interest and certainly did in no way make efforts to make us feel welcome nor special. No information was given on facilities on offer when checking in -- e.g. breakfast and dinner / leisure facilities. When experiencing problems - e.g. with the internet - little help / support was offered. Finally did not find reception staff at all friendly. 03 March 2015

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable bed Husband and I suffered a bad night's sleep because of the uncomfortable mattress but otherwise were happy with the hotel and it's facilities particularly use of the leisure facilities. Breakfast food and service was good. Car parking is very limited but the odd space does become available. 27 February 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Location The location of the hotel was perfect with an outlook over Southsea common. Close enough to the Dockyard area without being within it, bus stop nearby with buses running every ten minutes, but also a pleasant walk. The Hotel reception staff met us with a smile and were always very helpful. A very pleasant stay 26 February 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not on a par with other IHG hotels The hotel would benefit from more knowledgeable, attentive and professional check in front desk staff. We were not given free wifi passwords and username, despite enquiring. I mentioned that my registration said I was a club member whereas I am a gold member - this was not corrected. The restaurant was soulless, food wasn't anything special despite the high prices. There was no recognition of IHG status for either me or my husband. We stay in IHG very frequently around the world, and will continue to do so as it usually provides an excellent experience - the HI Portsmouth just wasn't on a par. 24 February 2015
