Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cheryl20089 Great location but a little loud being right smack in the middle of a major road!!
Our stay was what we expected. The hotel staff was wonderful and the location perfect although a little loud being situated in between a four lane highway. We thought we were buying a hotel package that included a hot breakfast. it actually turned out to be a buffet that was terrible. I'm not a big fan of buffet food first of all but this was designed to feed mass amounts of bus tour traffic. We actually left and had a decent breakfast. If you are considering upgrading to the drink and hot breakfast package save your money and go off property. The bar staff was wonderful but its just a well drink or house beer and wine. Nothing to write home about. The room was comfortable and clean.

Very dated hotel. Only thing that felt clean were the sheets and towels. Ceiling was peeling in the bath, room was very dark, towel rack was broken. Room was too small for two double beds.
Restaurant staff was slow, and seemed annoyed we were there for lunch (only guests there at the time). At breakfast, we were directed to the self coffee and buffet, given no menu as another option. Coffee tasted like it was a day old.
On the plus side, the bartender was wonderful and friendly. The restaurant has a lovely view of Charleston, but our room view was a rooftop and parking lot.
Check out was easy, which was good because we wanted to get out of there.

The help from the staff was superior. They were friendly and attentive to needs. Chad was especially helpful in seeing that my stay was comfortable which meant a lot since I was traveling alone to see my sister in the hospital.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wandering Bob Fabulous View, Comfortable Rooms, Unique Location
We enjoyed our stay in the Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview. The staff were very attentive and courteous, the hotel clean and well maintained, and the rooms comfortable. The view of the river and Charleston from the restaurant on the top floor is fabulous. The hotel is located between the north and south bound lanes of route 17 as it approaches the draw bridge to Charleston. This makes access to the hotel quite easy if a little harrowing as you merge in or out of high speed traffic. It also leads to noticeable traffic noise during the morning rush hour. So, do not expect to sleep in.
Our biggest problem was navigating to and from Charleston. The streets can be confusing, and our GPS refused to recognize that there was access to the hotel parking area from both north and southbound route 17.

Always enjoy our stays at Riverview. It is the only place we stay when visiting Charleston.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BBQ Bob Waiting for our cruise ship
We had two full days to visit Charleston before boarding our ship. Thanks to the hotel's excellent cab connections, we were able to get to both an old town tour with a horse and carriage and a water tour including Fort Sumter. Both tour guides were full of historical knowledge about the city. It was far better touring than the ship gave its passengers already embarked. I don;t know of a better place to have breakfast with its incredible view that the Holiday Inn on the Charleston harbor.
