Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It's a bit tired Things did not get off too well when we arrived, reception staff said they could not book us in as the computer system was down, they suggested we took ourselves off downtown and come back later. After a 300 mile drive, this was not what I wanted to hear. No offer of a drink (soft drink I mean - coffee Etc), sit down sir we will work thos out for you. When asked they said they had no other back up to resolve this issue. We sit down on some chairs near reception to think things over and the same staff who couldn't book us in start checking in two ladies. What's gong on! Then a third member of staff turned up with the master keys, we got checked in!! Still in fairness to the staff they then did issue me with a token for breakfast and a free drink voucher at the bar. So the hotel is out of town really in no mans land, but it was only a short 10 minute drive downtown. The hotel has seen better days, this was our last night of our 18 night trip and everywhere else we had stayed had been more modern and up to date. that said the beds were fine, it was quiet and everything worked. Breakfast actually for a Holiday Inn (not express) was average, we did not order anything cooked but stuck to the buffet, lots of nice fresh fruit, but there was no toaster and the pancake machine did not work. Service was slow as well. The bar is quite dark and feels like you are climbing under something to get into it and they have no draught beer. There was no atmosphere, hardly anyone in there, we only stayed for one drink and off we went. I am a priority member with HI and like their hotels and have had many great stays in them, but i'm afraid to say this is not one of the chain I will look back on with fondness. October 1, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Home Away from Home We have stayed here before, but it has been several years. I was very pleased at the appearance of the hotel and our room was very nicely updated. The room was quiet, the bed was wonderful and I had everything I needed to entertain myself while my husband was playing in a three-day bridge tournament. I was able to check in early and check out late! All of the staff members were very friendly and helpful during my whole stay, and even welcomed my hanging around in the lobby during the time I was waiting for him after I checked out.
