Travelling to New Orleans we stayed over at the Hattiesburg Holiday Inn and found it a lovely stay, relaxing and excellent in all aspects.

Clean rooms and friendly staff. The bar is seriously under stocked. Couldn't even get a Jack and coke. However, they do cook an excellent burger.

The front desk staff is friendly and smiles lot. But, they really do not respond to requests, or problems with your room. So save your breath. The secure self locking exit doors to the outside do not close so you really don't need to use your room key to gain access to the rooms. The controls to the HAVAC unit are not all functioning so if you don't want the unit to cycle your out of luck. Bring a cooler to room 109 because the fridge door won't close, and it is the same temperature as the room.

The air conditioner didn't seem to cool completely; the desk chair was broken. Note, however, that I didn't bring this to the attention of the staff because I just didn't want to mess with it or change rooms, etc.
As it relates to the restaurant/bar, there just wasn't much to it - limited seating - limited menu - ambiance not good. But the staff (hotel and restaurant) was very nice.
