Never Again

I had spent many nights at this property in the 80's and 90's so I thought it would be a great place for my 16 year old son and I while he completed his advanced open water dive classes. What a mistake!
I travel three or four times a month and often stay at Holiday Inns. I like that at other properties I'm treated as a valued guest having been a member of their loyalty program since 1987. I had used most of my award points on another trip so this time I paid for three nights and used the points I had remaining for a fourth night.
First the good point; location... This hotel is at the end of the boat basin where dive and fishing boats tie up. We were able to walk to the dive boat in the morning and stroll the seawall in the evening.
Now the negatives; the rooms are small. Ours had two queen beds and one chair with barely enough room to navigate between them. There was no place to set up my son's computer so he did his work on the bed. I asked about being moved to a room with a desk but only the king bed rooms have one. The furniture, what there was, has seen better days. The particle board night stand had bashed corner and the door on the the stand, where the mini fridge is hidden, was broken. There was only one open outlet on the bed side of the room so we were forced to go buy multiple plug adapters to accommodate our phone chargers and computers. The bathroom was so tiny I felt I was on a boat. The ceiling tiles were stained and toiletries were low quality.
I read another review that was excited about having a Keurig in the room. True, they have the smallest model on the corner of the TV stand, but it's the coffee that is provided that is an embarrassment. After having a cup of weak coffee I went down the street and bought some of my own cartridges. When my son and I compared the two we found that the cartridges provided by the hotel contained half the amount of coffee of the ones I had just purchased.
The coffee issue, while minor, is a perfect analogy to my feelings about this hotel. It looks like one thing but upon inspection and actual use is a disappointment.

They Just Don’t Care About The Customer…

This hotel is not worth the price you have to pay for it… They lie about the high prices saying that it is only expensive in “season” when in fact it’s expensive during the dead of summer…

Not only that, but the hotel is dingy… It seems like it was nice back in the 60’s or 70’s but its 2016 now and it needs a massive overhaul… I like the tropical plants and the tiki hut but that’s about it.

Also, I couldn’t understand why my room wasn’t cooling off until we were getting ready to leave when I checked the filters and BOTH of them were disgusting. See below for the pictures I took of the years of dust that was built up in my air conditioner filters… I told the representative at front desk about the filters and told her how hot our stay was and even showed her the pictures. Al she said was “hum, those should be clean”… Of course they should be! She didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience we had and the dirty air we had to endure for four days… Not even a couple free drink coupons or a free breakfast to make me feel better… Leaving me to believe they just don’t care!

I wonder how much more mold was in the room and if that's why I got sick on my trip?

Worst of all the closest IHG hotel is a half an hour away and I just found Rainbow Reef Diving Center which is right next door to this hotel… Now I will have to stay at the competitors brand because IHG allows this dump into their system… As a Spire Elite Member I should be treated better as I am brand loyal, But I guess they just don't need my Business.

We come here to do the sunset snorkeling trip and always enjoy it. The rooms have met with our approval and the staff have been great. The appearance has only increased throughout the years. The deep sea fishing and scuba boats are within walking distance as are several restaurants.

There is no elevator for the 2nd floor.

Great Value at Prime Location

Spent a night at this hotel as part of a family vacation. We were surprised at how comfortable and easy to access the rooms were. The pool area and associated tiki bar were fun. Noise level in rooms was minimal and nice patios outside the doors of each room were convenient and comfortable. The nearby restaurants were superb and within walking distance. Staff was friendly and responsive.

Getaway

My wife and traveled from Lakeland, Fl. to Key Largo for the opportunity to just get away from work and the everyday tasks of daily life. We stayed three nights and totally enjoyed our time there. Our room was 141, on the back side of the hotel, was very convenient to our parking and the area was very quiet. We had a great time and was not disappointed at all during our stay.
