great location, nice lobby, facelifted exterior look, full service bar with high ceiling, good size clean rooms
older building but well maintained, darker and narrow corridor (my stay was in the south building)
a/c unit completely useless, since no other mean of ventilation, a real problem

I'm not very picky on hotels and I travel all year long. This one was just very bad. No one slept in the room, you can hear water noises all night and sounds from surrounding rooms. Hotel is old and definitely needs an upgrade. I don't recommend at al. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights, we found an Airbnb for the rest of the stay after the first night.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Pleasantly Surprised
I stayed at the Holiday Inn Midtown on April 18-22,2015 and was indeed pleasantly surprised. I was skeptical at first, because I normally stay at another hotel chain when in New York, but took a chance staying here because of the proximity to broadway, and other attractions. The hotel staff, housekeepers, building maintenance, etc., were very polite and professional, and eager to help when it was necessary. The room was large, comfortable, and clean. Because of the seasonal changes, my room was hot. However, the hotel provided a fan for cooling. I realize that most hotels don't turn the air conditioning on until after Memorial Day, so that was not a problem at all. The only annoyance, for me, was that the only ice machine that worked was on the 9th floor, and I only discovered this via another hotel guest. Overall, a great stay, and I will stay there again in the future. Convenient to Broadway if you like to walk, The Lincoln Center, Central Park, The Intrepid Sea,Air & Space Museum, CBS Broadcast Studios, and a host of area eateries.
