We were in NY during the UN conference, so prices were astronomically high at all hotels (where there was availability!) Holiday Inn managed to fit us in which was appreciated. Staff were very helpful in storing bags for us prior to arrival and generally helpful.
At normal prices this would be good value for money, a slightly older style of hotel, but comfortable and pleasant location.

We arrived at this hotel late on a Tuesday night on a warm October evening. After checking in we went for a walk around Lincoln Center and Fordham U campus. Returning to our guest room around 11:30 PM, it was very warm in the room. I turned the air conditioner on, but it did not seem to be working. We opened the windows, but there was no breeze at all. We were sweating and it must have been at least 80 degrees. I called the front desk to tell them I didn't think the AC was working. I was told the building's air conditioner was very old, and it had been shut down. We were offered a fan, but I didn't think it would be sufficient to provide us with a comfortable night of sleep. We went to the front desk around 12:00 midnight, and told them we wanted to check out and find another hotel to spend the night. The front desk was very sympathetic, and offered to credit us for the night. I asked if they might be able to call around to find us another hotel in the area. The front desk helped with calling around for another Holiday Inn close by. After being told by several hotels there was no availability, they found a Holiday Inn with rooms to be had at 36th Street, (Times Square South). They were most helpful and cooperative at the desk. But, I would be reluctant to return here despite the great location, and am now wondering if the building's heat may be an issue as well?
