Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst stay, rude staff and very noisy. Shower didn't' switch off, had to call reception who sent someone to switch it off as a ring had gone on the dial. Following morning got woken at 8.00a.m. by workmen shouting, drilling and hammering next door and outside our rooms. Building materials piled up outside our door room315. We went to reception and was told they were refitting the rooms next door and opposite ours. We asked to change rooms for our second night and were told we could but it would be later on as no rooms were ready yet. We said we were going to Alton towers for the day, which receptionist said was fine and we could move when we came back. We went back to the room and started to pack some things as it would be easier when we came back later to move. The cleaner knocked and asked if she could clean the room. I explained the situation and as we had cleared our things out the bathroom and packed some things away we were happy for her to clean were she could. We did have some damp things hanging (eg, swimwear,towels,etc) as we didn't want wet things in our case. But she refused our offer and said its all or nothing and walked off. We went out for the day and on arriving back at reception asked what room we were moving to? The receptionist seemed quite off with us and said we refused entry to the cleaner (totally untrue) and would not allow anyone to more our things to another room(first time this had been mentioned to us). At breAkfast We asked how did the pancake maker work and the waitress replied "it's broken". She went to the table next to us and they asked her the same question and she replied "it broken but the chef can make you some". Followed promptly by four freshly made pancakes were brought to them! At checkout receptionist tried to charge us for our meals despite the fact we had prepaid for them. managed to get that sorted eventually. Have stayed here two years ago and enjoyed it, what a difference it is now. I wouldn't stay here again and definitely wouldn't recommend it. May 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Dissapointed - Bedrooms need refurb & staff unable to cope with capacity Really disappointing stay - good location for Alton Towers & pool facilities good, otherwise not a great hotel. The bedrooms are very tatty in need of updating & the restaurant is unable to cope with hotel capacity - bad service as a result of bad management especially at breakfast when we waited an hour for a table & basically no food left - toaster & pancake machine broken & pastries all gone, hot food was being rushed out & eggs not cooked properly - staff could not cope & no apologies were made - no hotel management were in sight - unacceptable standard at a premium price - couldn't wait to get home! The hotel and rooms are currently being upgraded which adds to the quality even further. Thanks too all at Holiday Inn, Stoke-on-Trent May 26, 2015
