Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable & quiet room in well serviced location Just 5 min easy walk from TGV station. Room was great. Upgraded to Exec room, with fridge, coffee machine and water (though only refilled once during 3 days). Also offered drink at bar on arrival, nice. Many Restaurants just outside, also supermarkets for snacks, drinks etc. About 15-20 min walk to Notre Dame. Very close to Seine river. Hotel arrange taxi cab to airport on departure, which was good for us as we had large suitcases. People were great, different service approach, but genuine and helpful when asked. Overall good experience in perhaps the greatest city we have seen. October 1, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good location This is my second time visiting Paris and the location is good, it's not too far to walk and it's not at a very very busy place either. To see Paris then you need to walk, from the hotel to hotel de ville takes 30 mints to walk and you will see lots nice back streets! I would stay here again for sure. It's really just outside the Grand de Lyon station and the metro just there, so easy! I would stay here again for sure! September 6, 2013

All the staff were very friendly – with greetings on our way in and out, and helpful in answering our questions. Lobby, public areas and rooms are quiet and clean. Location of hotel is very convenient to metro (Gare de Lyon) and within walking distance to some Paris attractions. Will definitely recommend this hotel to our relatives and friends. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Why Stay in Tiny Cramped Hotel Rooms in the 5th and 6th for 2-3 Times the Price?!?! Recently, my hubby and I needed a hotel close to the Gare de Lyon AND reasonably priced for our 5th trip to France/Paris. In the past, we've stayed on both Ile St. Louis as well as in the 5th and 6th and paid bucket loads of Euro's more than what we paid for at the Holiday Inn Bastille! We found a GREAT deal online for this Holiday Inn and felt confident in the clean and reliable reputation that chain has had for decades here in the U.S. This is theeeee nicest Holiday Inn in which either one of us had EVER stayed! Their standard double room and bathroom were bigger and much nicer (furnishings, decor, CLEANLINESS, majorly comfy bed and a choice of pillow types and sizes; PLUS the bottled water [both fizzy and still] that are provided in the rooms' mini bar refrig is complimentary) compared to much costlier hotels in Paris!!! One can easily walk or take a quick metro to get around the city - so why stay in the spendy and cramped 5th or 6th?? And there are certainly plenty of good places to eat in the Bastille area where the hotel is located. But the food and hospitality of the Hotel are super as well! We are especially grateful to Dany in the restaurant/lounge and Mikhael (hope I spelled your name correctly dear sir) at the front desk. Our stay began with our becoming acquainted with the hotel's ace bar host - Dany. Prior to check in, we had just spent nearly two weeks in Burgundy helping out friends on their hotel barge (opening and closing canal lock gates, tying up and securing line onto lock bollards, setting up and breaking down for meals and washing dishes) and we were EXHAUSTED. We just needed to decompress and ease into our arrival to Paris before meeting up with friends for dinner. Dany was soooooooo accommodating with providing and replenishing our snacks and coupes and he made a stellar effort to try and understand my abysmal school girl French. The next day, Dany came into the hotel just as I was at the front desk and he lit up like a Christmas tree when greeted! He asked how everything was for us so far there at the hotel - Wonderful was my reply! He indeed understood that and smiled big once again. Our check out was an early AM one, as we needed to head over to the Gare de Lyon to catch our Air France Les Cars bus to the airport. While walking to the gare, we ran into Mikhael as he was heading to work - an early shift for him that day! When we recognized him, he smiled big and bright and bid us a bonne journee after we had thanked him for his great help and hospitality. Especially in the case of our interfacings with Dany and Mikhael, they may be a good indicator perhaps that Holiday Inn Bastille hires great people that understand that a hotel's hospitality doesn't merely begin and end when one's on their work shift; but they smartly hire people that truly exude a welcoming and caring warmth about people in general! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 Great spot, wonderful room and staff I stayed here for one night with my 9 year old on our way down south on the TGV. We came from the airport to the GAre-de-Lyon station and found this property a short walk, The staff were great. The room was extremely comfortable, but as with most European rooms very small. Still, it had a nice balcony and view and we enjoyed it completely and would recommend to anyone. There is, however, a sex shop right next door that prompted a few questions, but the area was totally safe and I would book this hotel again. August 23, 2013

I had a very comfortale and quiet room, although it was tiny. Staff is very helpful. Only "con" I found: breakfast is expensive for what is available. In general, I would recommend this hotel. The room is nice , spacious for Paris , I appreciated the cold bottled water ready in the room .They kept our barrages prior to check in the very first day and way after the check out the last day . The location is great , 5 minutes from Gare du nord and Subway station , 15 minutes walk to Bastille , 20 minutes to Place des Vosges and 30 minutes from Marais and Chatelet . Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by The hotel is highly recommended It is quiet and clean. Breakfast good. Although our room was on the street-side (Rue de Lyon), we slept well all the nights. The AC cooled down the room nicely (and quietly!). The often mentioned "sex chop" did not cause any kind of disturbance or problems. We stayed for 9 nights and we have nothing to complain about. The centre of Paris (Le Louvre, Ile de la Cite etc.) is only a few kilometers away, but if you do not want to walk, you can take the metro (M1). The wi-fi functioned well for our needs (not suitable for "heavy duty" use!)" August 20, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Ok for overnight stay This hotel is very convenient for us as we use the Gare de Lyon train station travelling up from Spain en route to the UK. The welcome is always mixed. Sometimes the reception staff are very pleasant other times they are off hand. As a Priority Platinum member, we are usually given an upgrade but if we have booked using club points, the room upgrade is normally not as good. July 17, 2013

Our room was very comfortable and extremely quiet. Which was welcomed after long days sightseeing the beautiful city. My only complaint would be the hair dryer cord. It is so short, you practically have to put your head up against the wall in order to dry your hair. July 12, 2013

You can take the airport express bus directly to Gare De Lyon and the hotel is just a short walk from the bus stop. It is also a short walk from the Lyon metro station and it connect to two RER line and #1 and #14 metro line. The morning we checked out, we just took our luggage and walk to Gare De Lyon for the train to Switzerland. This location is just so convenient. Although there is a sex shop right next door, there is no pictures posting outside or any questionable people loitering outside. There are also two big and tall bushes separate the hotel entrance and the sex shop so you will notice it less. Our room is facing the street but is surprisingly quiet. The room is very modern and comfortable. There is a wardrobe closet by each side of the bed so we can have a HIS and HER closet. The bathtub has shower curtain so we can take our shower freely without worry about splashing out. This is not the case in a lot of European hotel! There is plenty of counter space to put your toiletries. Paris experience very high temperature during the three days we were there. The hotel has a very good AC system in the rooms. You can control your own room temperature. It feel like heaven after a hot day out and we can cool down in our hotel room and have a cool comfortable night sleep!!! They also provide free Wifi in your room. Next time when we come back to Paris, we will definitely come back to this hotel. July 2, 2013

I was in for a unpleasant surprise when I checked in the night to be told that the room is not available. This is after I get a confirmation mail and also being told on the phone confirming that I would be checking-in. But the reception manager was quite kind enough, he personally went upstairs and cleaned the room and helped me out. But I had to collect the toiletries and bottle of water myself. Not a pleasant entry, when you want to catch some sleep after a loong day. July 2, 2013

The location is perfect for easy access to Gard de Lyon train station (train, buses, subway), close to the Seine. If coming from the airport the Air France shuttle is a very expedious and reasonable priced way to get here. Staff are very helpful. June 18, 2013

The staff does everything they can to make you feel like at home. The front desk are really helpful and give so many tips to discover other places which are not too touristy. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Hotel in need of some thought The hotel was nice and generally the atmosphere was pleasant and welcoming. We took a suite with joining rooms for a family of four persons. The bathroom was in the middle between the room. The bathroom was fine except that we could not stand up to have a shower. The slope of the roof prevented this and therefore for six days, the four of us had to crouch in the bath to facilitate. Not very comfortable at all. Apart everything was clean and welcome and the position of the hotel was excellent for the Gard du Lyon station just five minutes walk away. April 17, 2013

Was upgraded to executive room when arrived which was appreciated was on 7th floor and in Eve's so room felt small but was quiet. The room was clean and had a coffee machine but I had taken a kettle, machine limits the coffee to what maid leaves due to taking pods. Room did have a fridge which was useful. Storage good, and use of safe was appreciated in room. Felt price for breakfast was excessive so called at bakery down road for croissants. There is a supermarket close by too. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 2 Night Paris Stay Stayed at this property 2 nights in April '13. Arrived a few hours before check in with 3 people instead of 2 as per my reservation. Even though had one extra person the very attractive desk person upgraded us to a 2 bedroom suite at no extra charge even though I stayed here solely on points. She stowed our suitcases in a locked room while we explored Paris and upon our return the room was ready. Hotel Location is in a not too bad area and a 3-5 minute walk from train/metro station at Gare de Lyon which will get you anywhere you want to go. Restaurant was excellent and there were also good cafes locally. Suite was good size for European standards and always clean and made up upon our return. Hotel desk clerk was extremely friendly and knowedgable and I would recommend this property and stay here again. April 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice hotel, OK location, bad shower Hotel staff is great and helpful. We had a "suite" on the top floor. It was two rooms with a bathroom (with a sink and tub) and a toilet closet. The tub was against the angled wall of the roof so you couldn't really stand up in it and it had a shower head, but no shower curtain. The tub was too small to take a bath, and taking a shower was a cold, splashy affair. I hope that the tile floors are well sealed. The closet-sized room with the toilet in it had a broken door handle so it wouldn't close. And you couldn't wash your hands after you went if someone was trying to wash. The location is good relative to the train station--only about a block away. Next door to the hotel is a "Sex Shop." It is actually called that, in all caps in English. Look at the street view on google maps and see for yourself. I wouldn't have minded except when I had to keep walking my kids past it every day... April 10, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 7 Nights - April 2013 We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights on points. We were upgraded to an executive room on the 7th floor. Still small compared to U.S. standards, but it was still a fair amount larger than a standard room. We arrived early around 9:30am and the rooms were not ready. They checked our luggage and we went out exploring and we came back in the afternoon. Flight arrived into CDG early, and the RER B & A to Gare de Lyon was extremely efficient to reach the hotel. From our room we could see the Eiffel Tower, Bastille Monument, and a cathedral between the two. Staff was friendly and helpful. Two computers provide you internet access (20 min. sessions but you can just log in again) and we had free wireless in the room. Very close to the Gare de Lyon stop which was really nice. Left a note for a specific type of tea and it was left in the room when they cleaned. Missing from the room was any type of clock. Had to leave wake up calls. I understand becuase if there was a clock in the room you would have to reset the time every time you come back as you have to insert you key to turn on the power to the room. We didn't do breakfast in the hotel as we were exploring and didn't eat at the same place twice. April 7, 2013
