We decided to visit York as the local television service had a programme on complaining about people not visiting York due to the floods, naturally we chose the Holiday Inn having stayed at other Holiday Inns in the past, this was our first visit to the one in York. On arrival we were greeted by a trainee receptionist who had to get someone else to book us in, The room was up to the high standard we have come to expect from Holiday Inn, clean, tidy and comfortable, the buffet breakfast was good and the staff were first class. We did not use the bar as or restaurant in the evening as we had arranged to dine out with friends. the three days passed quickly and we managed to visit most of the places on our list but sadly though York was open some attractions were still closed after the flood damage, however the hotel made a welcome retreat from the bustle of daily life.

Das Hotel ist ziemlich in die Jahre gekommen und braucht dringend eine Renovierung. Die Lage ist aber gut.
Nur war das Bad nicht sauber und es gab kein Duschgel.

I was disappointed,as a regular Holiday Inn customer,
With the quality of the Executive Room
The Executive Room was barely any bigger than a standard room
and a disappointment to me as there were no other features that diferentiated the room
When I have stayed at Edinburgh (many times)the executive room consisted of a bedroom and lounge and that was type of facility I expected
If I return to York I will not order an Executive Room,in fact I might go elsewhere
