Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, quiet stay! We are former Montrealers and were unfortunately visiting this time for the funeral of my beloved 87-year-old father. We were impressed with the modern lobby, which contains beautiful, sparkly chandeliers and a lovely seating area. The check-in was smooth and the reception was friendly and efficient. The recent renovations really show well in the lovely hallways and public areas. Once inside our room, we discovered it to be very clean with a firm, comfortable bed. There was an adequate number of towels and the usual hotel bathroom "swag". However, both the sink and bathtub filled with water while in use, and the shower curtain and liner kept slipping from each end of the shower curtain bar due to either its poor placement or the need for an adjustment. We did not address this during our stay due to the emotional reason for being there. We really appreciated how quiet the hotel was....we never heard anyone in the hallway or in the rooms on either side of us. However, the A/C was very noisy and disturbed our sleep throughout our stay. As several others have mentioned, the WiFi left much to be was either very slow or would not connect. I would like to give a shout out to the wonderful gentleman (dark, longer hair) in the restaurant where we enjoyed a breakfast on one of our days. He was friendly, energetic, and exemplified great customer service! We chose this hotel for two reasons: it is very near my brother's home; and I liked that there had been recent renovations. Given the circumstance of our visit, we did not have time to take advantage of the hotel's amenities, but they looked very nice! July 25, 2015

I only had trouble connecting to the wifi from the room, always had to come to the lobby to connect. Since I had to work in the lobby, I would have liked a more comfortable setting. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Family Hotel We were very hesitant when choosing a hotel for our family's recent trip to Montreal, because we've had some very bad experiences with Montreal-area hotels in the past. Having never stayed in a Holiday Inn previously, we read the reviews of this hotel and decided to give it a shot. We were pleasantly surprised with the outcome and it helped make our trip all the more memorable. The hotel's entrance and lobby were well polished and functional. Check in was a breeze and there were no major issues with our reservation or unexpected surprises about the accommodations. We had reserved the room online and requested a higher floor not facing the highway – we were given a room (529) on the 5th floor that did face the highway, but there were never any promises made to the contrary so we didn’t feel too disappointed. The hotel staff were all very polite. The room itself was very similar to the photos online - clean and well maintained. The bathroom did look like it would soon be due for a renovation; there were some stains on the ceiling and the bath looked to be on the old side, but this was definitely not a serious concern to us. There were a couple other small spots throughout the room that looked slightly dusty or like they could have been cleaned a little more carefully, but again this was hardly a concern and I only mention it for accuracy. The beds were very comfortable and we slept well. The noise from the highway was actually nothing drastic and we didn’t hear any noise from the airport, nor were we bothered by any of the other hotel guests. The TV, lighting, storage, fridge, and in-room climate control worked well and in general we had an excellent stay that was above our expectations. The only other negative points I can think of are that the pool's heater was temporarily broken, which could be an inconvenience to some, and that the in-hotel restaurant (Marquis Bar & Grill) did not provide the best service for its relatively expensive brunch. We literally sat ourselves, cleaned our own table, and had to approach the restaurant staff to ask for a menu before ever being acknowledged. This was our only experience at the restaurant though, so it was an isolated instance and probably not representative of the restaurant in general.
