We stayed six nights in Argentina prior to a cruise. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Puerto Madero for two nights, left to go to Iguazu falls for one night, and then returned for another
Both check-ins were smooth and being IHG members gave us a bottle of water and an extended check out time.
Prior to leaving Canada, I phoned regarding airport pick up by taxi for transportation to the hotel in Puerto Madero, BA. Miguel explained the procedures and I confirmed this by email. Receptionist Veronica confirmed my pick up time.
When we arrived at the International Airport in BA, our driver was waiting for us at the arrivals door with a sign and we were quickly on our way to the hotel. The drive was about 40 mins, most of it on toll roads and the cost of 600 Pesos was added to our account. I recommend this service provided by the hotel. I don’t know the cost of the local taxi but it cannot be much less and pre-booking the taxi through Holiday Inn Express took away a lot of the stress of arriving in a country where I don’t speak the local language.
Our room, while on the smaller size compared to North America, had a great view overlooking the harbour and the ocean. It was very comfortable, with a large desk, armchair, king bed, chest of drawers, coffee pot, and a large security safe that held my 35mm camera, I-pad and Surface Pro computer. The bathroom was clean, had a great shower and a bidet.
Each morning there was a complimentary breakfast with lots of choices including a variety of juices, coffee, yoghurt, pastries, egg, Chicken nuggets, bread (toast) jams, and cereal so there was no need to go hungry.
The staff were most accommodating and requests we made were granted. Thanks to Miguel, Veronica, Enrique and Fernando, we had a great stay at the Holiday Inn in Puerto Madero. There is also a concierge on duty at all times checking who is entering the building so I felt very safe at all times.
We found this to be an excellent location for our touring. We like to walk and many of the major attractions were with within a 20 – 25 minute walk. It was also a short distance to the Train station and the cruise port, and the restaurants around the four diques were also very close.
We used taxis quite often and they were very inexpensive. I recommend the “Free Walking Tours” of BA. We did this on the first day and learned a lot about the city as well as getting an orientation to the centre of the city. We also did a day trip to Tigre. Some of the reviews were not too positive, but we went by train and took a boat tour for one hour around part of the Delta. Cost of the return ticket (about one hour each way) was less than US$1.00 each way per person (not an error). The town is also interesting to spend a couple of hours walking around and we really enjoyed our day.
In summary, I am happy we chose the Holiday Inn Express and we are grateful to the staff for their service. [Less]
