After having a fantastic time last year we decided that we needed a week of relaxing by the pool and enjoying the hot weather...especially after months of lockdown at home. We were unsure at first
how the hotel would be different compared to last year, however it did not impact the holiday at all and we were very impressed.
Checkin was at the front desk, unfortunately we were unable to check in at the club lounge like last year. The room was ready early and we were upgraded to a junior suite.
The room was very clean and tidy. It was clear that items had been removed due to COVID (no extras etc in the bathroom), however it did not really matter too much.
The staff in the club lounge were EXCELLENT (I wish I had names to give praise to individual members). Breakfast was served to you and it would have been nice to have menus (or QR code to scan) as I could not remember what was on the menu from last year so ended up having the same thing each time. You have to wait when it gets busy but the staff do their best to make it special still. They now serve you instead of helping yourself, however there are still some individually wrapped items on display to help yourself (its a shame there is so much single use plastic tubs, but I guess its difficult not to get away from this).
The team at the SKYBEACH were excellent and always tried to get us a good space.
The team at the beach were not as good as last year - we had to wait around a while before we could get someones attention to order drinks. This was a shame as after ordering we still had to wait a while for them to arrive.
We enjoyed the standard pool area - the space had been recused slightly but it still felt very open and we were able to find a spot away form the loud kids etc - the only issue we had was trying to get the attention of the staff to order drinks - often they did not walk to the area we were using.
Overall COVID did not impact our holiday and I was very happy with how the hotel made us feel safe and the surrounding area and restaurants felt very much like it did last year.
We consider Malta a place to escape to for a week or so if we want to do nothing but chill and sunbath in a nice location - we will be coming back again, [Less]
