Our central Holiday Inn Express® hotels in Lisbon take you to the heart of a city of fado song, exhilarating tram rides and delicious custard tarts. Built on seven hills, the sunny Portuguese capital offers a different view for every day of the week.
Lisbon's best-known landmark, St. George's Castle, rises dramatically above a mosaic of red rooftops and the River Tagus. From here you can hop aboard the century-old tram 28 for a good-value spin of the city's sights, from the Moorish Alfama neighborhood to Baixa's grand plazas. Our Lisbon hotels are just a short Metro ride from the sharks and stingrays at underwater wonderland Oceanarium. Or head to Belém to relive 16th-century nautical adventures and wander the cloisters of Jerónimos Monastery, a Unesco World Heritage Site.
Begin your evening Lisbon-style with wallet-friendly shots of ginjinha (cherry brandy) at one of the center's hole-in-the-wall bars. Our hotels in Lisbon are close to downtown restaurants with inexpensive menus or daily specials. Portuguese white wines go well with fresh-from the-grill sardines and spicy chicken piri-piri. Take your pick of alfresco places on the backstreets of Baixa and the lantern-lit Alfama, where bittersweet fado music plays. The party spills out onto the streets of the bar-lined Bairro Alto.
Tawny port, kid gloves, old-fashioned sweets - you'll find them all in the specialty shops in Baixa, just a short Metro ride from our central Lisbon hotels. Break up your day with people-watching and oven-warm custard tarts in one of Lisbon's Art Nouveau patisseries. Stay at central Holiday Inn Express hotels in Lisbon to discover St. George's Castle, the Moorish lanes of the Alfama, and a city where the simple pleasures of sunshine, fine wine and fresh fish cost very little.

Weekend away with friends
Excellent hotel located on the sea front. We had problems with no electricity during our stay and had to be put in another hotel for the night. The staff managed this stressful situation in an[More] excellent manner and the staff were all professional under the stress of the situation.

A Wonderful Weekend
Our first impression on arriving at the InterContinental at Estoril was ... wow! The hotel's location is spectacular and the warmth and efficiency of the staff make you feel relaxed immediately. In[More] particular, Nuno who greeted us at reception and showed us to our amazing Sea View room, always seemed to be around to ensure we were fine throughout our whole stay.
We had such a happy time staying here for a long weekend. We loved strolling to Cascais, catching the train from Monte Estoril into Lisbon and the bus to Sintra. Everything was made easy for us by the extremely helpful staff. Ricardo always gave us a warm welcome at the spa whilst Luis and Catarina made dining at the hotel's restaurant Atlantico such a wonderful experience.
Needless to say, we hope to return to this very special hotel very soon![Less]
Overall good stay but some hiccups
We stayed two nights at this property at the tail end of an 11 day Spain/Portugal road trip. Hotel is pretty close to central Lisbon and only 30 minutes to Sintra and Cabo da Roca so it is centrally[More] located. Had some minor problems but they were fixed. The bathroom door to my mother in law's room got stuck and maintenance had to come over and fix on the morning of our departure so we were a little stressed. Luckily it was fixed promptly. Shower door in our room was stuck as well but I was able to remedy that on my own. Rooms, compared to other properties we stayed at on the trip, were small Breakfast was decent. Service was good and attentive. As an IHG rewards member I would have expected somewhat bigger rooms, but overall experience was good. .[Less]

Very 'slick' reception, good room and substantial breakfast
By Allan H2
We were greeted very pleasantly, 'Booking-in' was slick and easy. The Receptionist tried to help us with a map of Lisbon - maybe local maps may be an idea - Breakfast was substantial with no hassle.[More] The free Car Park is always a bonus and near to hand.[Less]
