We visited Leicester to visit the King Richard III centre, Cathedral, walks and museums, and also the National Space Centre.
The Holiday Inn is located just right, being a short 5 minute walk from
everything, and the NSC a quick 10 minute bus ride Nos.54 and 54a from Haymarket Bus station, and 5 minute walk.
One drawback, when on foot, is that the HI is situated on a large very busy traffic island along with the NCP car park - and there is only one traffic light crossing place you can get off safely, there were no easily visible signage to direct you to this. For reference, turn left out of the hotel exit, cross service road past NCP entrance, take narrow path that turns right around office building along inside of roundabout over the underpass, and you arrive at the only pedestrian traffic lights to get off and into the city centre opposite.
Note: whilst busy traffic, the noise is not noticeable inside the hotel.
It may have been an off day, but the breakfast was a disappointment. The beans were tepid, the poached eggs we ordered took an age to arrive and then were hard. OK - we would have complained, but we were short of time that morning.
The hotel has 8 floors, and was quite full and busy - so the 2 lifts were on overtime to service the needs of everyone. You will need patience if on a high floor - we were on 6.
Having said all the above, the room, comfort level, staff friendliness were all excellent, so overall we had a good 2 day break.
Finally, car parking is a separate NCP operated building adjacent to the hotel. They are both inside the large traffic roundabout, accessed by a single entrance off the inside track of the roundabout - clearly signed. The NCP does not have lifts, so if you have large amounts of luggage, drive to hotel entrance first to drop that off, then exit and back round to get back to car park entrance. There appeared to be plenty of car parking over about 6 floors. [Less]
