Years ago, I used to be a Platinum Elite member, the highest level at that time. It was great to be able to use points in the USA and Canada too. My wife and I stayed in the Willard hotel in
Washington DC. This hotel is an Intercontinental, the highest level at that time, and we got it free with points. The hotel was five minutes from the White House, and the top floor suite was reserved for Heads of State of other countries, when visiting the President. It was a beautiful hotel, and despite the fact that it didn't cost anything to stay, we were treat like royalty by the staff. Incidentally, this hotel was used by Steven Spielberg at the end of the movie Minority Report starring Tom Cruise. In the dining room, there is a framed photo of Spielberg and the hotel manager.
Having been retired several years, I only use IHG hotels occasionally, but still do USE them where possible.
Glenrothes Express was the same quality as all the groups hotels, and it brought back memories of my business travels around the UK.
We have used several different ''style'' hotels in the group, and always found them great value. The Rewards Scheme is excellent too. [Less]
