Stay in our hotels in Dothan, Alabama, and in no time you'll be driving past expansive green fields of peanut crops and eating fried green tomatoes in home-style diners.
The city's colorful heritage is on display in the 19 large murals painted on historic brick buildings downtown. One depicts Dothan native and Tuskegee Airman Sherman Rose wearing flight gear and surrounded by the historic planes he flew. Rose was the first black air instructor at Fort Rucker, located a short drive from our hotels in Dothan and home to the U.S. Army Aviation Museum. Admission is free to this extensive collection of choppers-including an AH-64 Apache and UH-60 Blackhawk-spanning the army's history of aviation. At the G.W. Carver Interpretive Museum, located downtown near our hotels in Dothan, learn how the former slave turned scientist transformed the humble peanut from hog food into a major agricultural commodity. Today Dothan proudly proclaims itself "Peanut Capital of the World."
If you're looking for a quintessential Southern meal, head out from our Dothan hotels to the town's home-style cafes and diners. You can sample local catfish, fried to a golden brown, or a platter of pit-cooked barbecue. Order it up with a side of fried green tomatoes and a tall glass of sweet iced tea. The region's mild winter climate means you can tee off any time of year at Highland Oaks Golf Course, located near our hotels in Dothan and part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Great stay. Outstanding staff, clean rooms and hotel.[Less]
I was very pleased with this facility. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and I was pleasantly surprised with the warm cookies in the afternoon and the Thursday night dinner. Not a far[More] drive from the Enterprise gate or Daleville gate of Fort Rucker. Rooms are slightly dated but clean and comfortable. Lots of game/appliance options in the cupboard and the gym facility is nice along with option of using planet fitness. Highly recommend Candlewood in Enterprise for a short or long stay.[Less]
Always a Great stay at this location
This hotel goes above and beyond the call of duty. The employees make this hotel. I’ve got to say Sarah at the front desk was remarkable. I had some colleagues with me that their check in date was[More] incorrect. And unfortunately the hotel was booked completely. They weren’t familiar with the area so Sarah got on that phone and called several hotels (all the hotels in the area were booked-and ended up finding them a hotel 33 miles away. She and the other employees are just one reason why I stay in IHG properties.[Less]
Lack of pet friendly facilities
By Pet lover
Microwave in room didn’t work. Reported to front desk at departure
Bathroom needs attention to fine details like caulking. It’s rather messy around tub and behind door.
Toilet paper holder is[More] too far from toilet for someone who isn’t tall or who doesn’t have long arms. Nearly fell off the toilet reaching for paper!!!
Otherwise, an acceptable hotel choice!
I wish Holiday Inn were Pet Friendly!!!!!!!!! Please review your policies and bring Holiday Inn up to today’s standards. Many families won’t even think about staying at your hotels because they want to travel with their pets. They (I) would be willing to pay a pet fee. More and more hotels are becoming pet friendly. You are lagging way behind the times.[Less]
My first choice when traveling for business
By John from Birmingham
I never sleep well away from home but I sleep best at Holiday Inn Express when away from home.[Less]
Served my purpose but could use an renovation.
The hotel was quiet, breakfast was just okay, but the room was a bit run down. Furniture showed heavy damage and the bathroom was very hard to manuever due to the giant door. The rooms need[More] renovating. The main lobby and breakfast areas were all nice.[Less]
