Featured Elk Grove Hotels

Discover our Holiday Inn Express® hotels in Elk Grove, California, a suburb of Sacramento. You'll soon be communing with the ghosts of California's past in the State Capitol and paddling down the calm waters of the American River.

Our hotels in Elk Grove are a short drive from Sacramento, the California state capital. Take a free guided tour of the gleaming-white Capitol Building or explore on your own. Displays show off each of California's varied counties-from the deserts of San Bernardino to the forests of Humboldt-and the Governor's portrait gallery provides a visual who's who in California politics. An impressionistic interpretation of 70s-era Jerry Brown looks all the more outrageous set among the modest portraits of Reagan and Schwarzenegger.

Kitschy souvenir shops in Old Town Sacramento's Gold Rush-era storefronts sell all manner of fool's gold, but guests of our Elk Grove hotels can find true treasures in weekly farmer's markets. Vendors sell a dizzying variety of juicy yellow, orange and red tomatoes, ripe strawberries and fresh-baked bread at Cesar Chavez Plaza and under the freeway near Southside Park. Steakhouses and Mexican restaurants near the Capitol Building keep California's politicians well-fed, while pubs and wine bars fill with state workers and bureaucrats at happy hour.

Stay in our Holiday Inn Express hotels in Elk Grove to explore the American and Sacramento rivers by boat, by train or by foot. With a rented raft or kayak, you can navigate a calm stretch of the American River near the city. A steam locomotive train departs Old Town during summer for a 6-mile scenic journey along the Sacramento River. Buy your tickets at the California State Railroad Museum. Or, guests of our Elk Grove hotels can simply enjoy the rushing water from the tree-shaded banks of the capital's riverside parks.

Good value for your money--clean and accessible. We were totally satisfied with the room--spacious and well lit so you could actually read without getting eye strain. [Less]

Great stay for the rod building class I was attending in the hotel. The breakfast was good with a variety of items to choose from. [Less]
comfortable bed/great fitness room/great service
By Ofelia7
Was there three nights and enjoyed the breakfast each morning before I left for training. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The fitness room had everything I needed. If it had been a little warmer [More] outside, I would have been in the pool. :) [Less]
Sacramento Visit Fall 2016
By B Brown
This Holiday Inn Express is probably one of the best if not the best I’ve ever stayed in. Good location right off the highway. The only problem with the location is that there are no supporting [More] businesses like restaurant, clubs, department stores, entertainment venues or gas stations near to the hotel. The staff and owner were friendly, courteous and helpful. The owner even gave a meet the owner night with free food and drinks for the hotel guess. The hotel has an outdoor pool, appeal parking and the cleaning staff were continuously cleaning the hotel building. The morning breakfast selections were excellent for this level of hotel and the breakfast room was comfortable and very accommodating. If I return to the Sacramento, CA area I would most definitely book accommodations at this hotel. [Less]
Wonderful Stay, definitely coming back
By PJones75
I absolutely enjoyed staying here at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites at the Davis-University Area. The staff were very personable, cheery, and attentive. The bed was so comfortable that I fell [More] fast asleep. I expected to be able to hear the train in the middle of the night but the room was extremely quiet and I got a full night of uninterrupted sleep. I definitely did not want to crawl out of bed the next morning. Of course though, one must always get up, I went down to the workout room and smelled the bacon and eggs and was definitely tempted to not work out that morning. After finishing up my work out I quickly went back to my room, took a hot shower and changed so I could return for that breakfast. I was pleasantly greeted by the person who was making the food and ensuring everything stayed fresh and clean. The housekeeping staff are very friendly as well (and definitely hard working as the room was extremely clean and well stocked....thank you!!!). I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone going into the Davis-University area, the hotel offers bikes to ride if you want to ride them down to the college and through the downtown area. Very nice. [Less]
Nice Rooms and Good Location
By GaryML
The hotel is walking distance from downtown (directly across the freeway). There is easy access from the I-80 freeway and lots of available parking. The room was very nice and recently remodeled. [More] There is the usual Holiday Inn Express breakfast with some hot fresh food, but I would prefer some healthier choices. [Less]
Really nice room!
By davis926
This is the second time I've stayed at this hotel. The rooms are so nice. They are beautifully decorated and have so much light. The a/c unit is a little loud, but you can get passed that. The bed [More] is comfortable, but I ended up grabbing an extra blanket at the comforter is just a little too light for might liking. The staff kept that room spotless. And they were so efficient about it. I stayed for days, and each time I stopped in around lunch, my room was already clean. [Less]
