My wife and I were very happy with our visit to this hotel. While travelling through on a driving tour of the California coast and Redwood forests we booked a night at the Holiday Inn Express in
Klamath. All we were looking for was a place to get a nights sleep before we continued our journey, but we were pleasantly surprised with the quality of the hotel upon our arrival.
The hotel, inside and out, is clean and neat. It appears to have been built relatively recently and is free of a lot of the building flaws that I find in hotels that are rapidly slapped together. The room was much larger than I expected, with a very comfortable King bed, a desk for business, and a couch with a couple of chairs in the sitting area. The bathroom was spacious, well lit, and clean.
We arrived relatively late at night, but the night manager was very friendly and we were walking into our room about 3 minutes after walking through the front door. The room was dark enough to sleep in well and I don't remember hearing any noise throughout the night. I may have just been that tired though.
The staff was very friendly the next morning when we checked out and encouraged us to sample the continental breakfast offerings. The breakfast isn't anything to write home about, but there is a decent variety of items and it was my favorite price. Free. I was told that there is a nice restaurant next door in the casino, but we didn't have time that morning to investigate.
While leaving, I commented to my wife that I would enjoy staying at the hotel a little longer on a future trip and using it as a base to run day trips into the surrounding parks, rather than driving through. The combination of location and value makes it ideal for such a plan.
Overall, I must give the Holiday Inn Express - Klamath high marks across the board. I stay in a lot of hotels and tend to be rather critical, but for the market segment it occupies, this hotel is as good as it gets. Highly recommend. [Less]
