We recently had occasion to visit relatives by The Villages, and decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites The Villages. We were a bit concerned after reading some of the reviews, but we
were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was clean--nice lobby. Our room, while being dated and needing an upgrade, was very clean and the beds were comfortable. I really liked the shower head.
The only complaint I really had is that the wifi was very unreliable. I had trouble getting connected pretty much every day. I eventually got enough of a connection each day to get my emails, but the connection didn't last long and the signal strength was very unreliable.
I dealt with this every time I tried to connect--every day, and some times I couldn't connect at all, so I had to try later.
Pete, at the font desk, was incredibly helpful and empathetic--he even came to the room to help me get connected at one point. Pete was great!
The housekeeping staff was very friendly and nice--they always had a hello and a smile for you.
The breakfast was good enough (for being a free breakfast)---but we got a really good breakfast, in a Cafe up the street in Lady Lake.
I highly recommend staying at the Holiday Inn & Suites The Villages if you are looking for a NICE, decent place to stay and you're not worried about connecting to the internet.
Once they get the rooms updated and the wifi nice and strong, it'll be a GREAT place to stay. [Less]
