man came to help me open it, he was very tall and rather than pushing the handle down like I have my entire life, he lifted the handle up and smashed into the top of the door with his shoulder. every time I tried to open it, I tried the way you normally would open a door in a hotel with the card key. He kept insinuating that I was doing something wrong. Finally I switch to the left side lifted the handle up instead of pushing it down and slammed up into the door like a football player with my shoulder. The door opened of course. He seemed satisfied that I now could open the door. I'm a pretty strong tough guy so I don't mind smashing my shoulder into your door to open it, but obviously that's not the way the problem should have been handled. That my wife been there or my children, certainly they would not have been able to open the door because they could not slam their shoulder into the door to smack it open. once I was able to smash the door open the maintenance man seemed confident that all was okay. I did let the front desk know that the door was completely broken in that I was having to smash it with my shoulder to open it. I told them the next guests that came along probably would not appreciate that. I'm curious if it ever got fixed. [Less]
