I was worn out from a long day when I pulled into the Holiday Inn Tucumcari. My first concern was finding a place to park the Penske truck I rented in Santa Fe, but I found plenty of parking within
easy walking distance to the hotel lobby.
Checking in was easy, and I enjoyed talking to the front desk clerk. I don't remember his name, but he told me he had moved to Tucumcari from Albuquerque eight years(?) earlier, and it only took a week for him to feel right at home there.
My room was clean and quiet, and the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was also very clean. My room looked out on Interstate 40, and I could see highway traffic, including a lot of trucks, from my window, but the noise level from the freeway did not pose a problem when I turned off the lights and settled in for a good night's sleep.
