Featured Petersburg Hotels

As a guest at our Holiday Inn Express® hotels in Petersburg, Virginia, you'll have the opportunity to stroll cobblestoned streets in Old Towne and sample pulled-pork sandwiches in modest barbecue joints. This historic community on the Appomattox River is a gateway to Civil War battlefields.

It's a short drive from our hotels in Petersburg to the grassy fields of National Battlefield Park, site of the Siege of Petersburg, a bloody ten-month standoff that led to the collapse of the Confederacy. The Siege Museum in Old Towne chronicles the social history leading up to this epic battle. During the Civil War, Petersburg was a safe haven for many fugitive slaves traveling the Underground Railroad. A few blocks from Old Towne is the Pocahontas Island Historic District, one of the first communities in the country founded by freed slaves. Step in to folksy Pocahontas Island Museum, a diverse collection of African-American artifacts; admission fees are voluntary. Sunlight streams through fifteen Tiffany stained-glass windows in the 18th-century Old Blandford Church, close to our Petersburg hotels.

Spreading out from the scenic Appomattox River, the historic redbrick structures of Old Towne were built after an 1815 fire wiped out the city's wooden warehouses. Today the revitalized Old Towne has antiques shops, art galleries and cheerful pubs and bistros. On Saturday mornings farmers sell fresh produce and flowers at the Farmer's Market in an octagonal 1878 landmark. Our Petersburg hotels are convenient to several venerable barbecue joints doling out pit-cooked pulled-pork sandwiches at rock-bottom prices.

Book a room at one of our hotels in Petersburg to discover the laidback charms of this historic Southern city. Celebrate at the Fall Family Festival in October or stroll candlelit galleries on the second Friday of each month for Old Towne's Friday for the Arts.

Attentive and friendly front desk, great room. Was upgraded to the Presidential Suite without added cost and appreciated both the communication and hospitality. Aromatherapy products were a [More] delightful surprise as well. [Less]

Excellent Stay
By John Doe 2016
I have always stayed when I travel at a Holiday Inn, and this is by far the best one I have stayed at. The staff were very friendly. They went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. I was in [More] Richmond for a weeding that I was a Bridesmaid in, the staff were kind of enough to let the wedding crew in to get ready in my room. After we were ready, the room was notorious, yet my room was clean upon my return even after normal working hours of house keeping. The breakfast was fresh even at closing time. If I ever were to return to Richmond to visit, this hotel would be my first choice. I highly recommend staying here. [Less]

Good Location
By None too too
This hotel was in a good location and the price was not too bad. I chose to stay here because of the business center but the downfall is the food prices are too high for what you get. They used to [More] offer free breakfast earlier this year but no longer do. This hotel is about $20 more than where I used to stay. I gave up the free breakfast for the business center and pool. Still trying to decide if I'm going back to the other hotel. [Less]
Clean room and comfortable bed!
By momasons
We enjoyed a quiet night's sleep - not something we get in every hotel, unfortunately. It was the most comfortable night's sleep we had in 2 weeks away from home. [Less]
