We had such a great time in Charleston. The hotel made out experience so much better. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great. Our room as the rest of the hotel were clean.

The staff was awesome, both for our arrival, departure and breakfast! Room was very good, little small for Holiday Inn Express standards. Breakfast was great like normal and expected at a Holiday Inn Express.

I booked a room on the IHG app and it offered a late checkout for a fee. I booked it and arrived at the hotel after 8pm the very same day the room was booked. I checked in and tried to confirm my late check out. Staff member, Ebony, rudely told me that that is not a service they offer. I tried showing her the screenshots, email and app confirmation of my reservation and she refused to look at the proof. She said a "late checkout" was not in their system/reservation and I would have to call IHG customer service and "fix it" with them. She said they did not offer that service because of COVID19, that they had to clean the room very well and that the staff had to clean the room right after 11am. I called IHG and a representative found my reservation including the "late checkout" service I added and payed extra for. She placed me on hold, while she called the front staff of the hotel and spoke to Ebony. She got back on the phone and adviced me that Ebony said she could not do anything and I would have to handle it with her manager the next morning. Both of these ladies made sure that I knew I could not check out after 11am, unless the manager approved it. I had to cancel two reservations because I had to wait for the manager at 9am the next day. The next day came and I was notified the manager was not in and I would have to call the next day. I was also advised by a different staff member that a "late check out" is a service they offer and COVID19 is not a reason to not honor a service I had already payed for. I check out way before 11am. I called the next day to speak with the manager. Once I spoke with the manager she seemed uninterested, aggravated and unfriendly. I tried explaining the situation and she made sure to emphasize that a "late check out" fee is only $1 extra. She said the only thing she could do for me was to give me a $1 refund. I advised her that on the IHG app that is not what the service cost. I advised her it was well over $15 dollars. She said the only thing she could refund me back was $10. At that point I was extremely dissatisfied and agreed to her only option. I did advise all staff members the only reason why I booked with them was because they offered a late check out fee. Thanks to not getting the service I payed for I missed two reservations.

When I arrived to the first room I was assigned, I found the bed with no sheets, the bathroom had no towels, or toilet paper. The second room I was assigned, smelled of mold, was old, and the shower had no hot water.

The parking lot was very dark as I arrived late at night. The front door was locked one night and my key card would not open it. The room was poorly cleaned and the air conditioner was so loud, I could not sleep. The bathtub had mold and mildew in the grout and the shower constantly dripped.

Good place to stay at

There were some issues with not getting our room cleaned, and also we requested to have maintenance brighten the tv screen which didn’t end up happening in our stay, but the price was comparable and the location made it easy to get to the attractions. We couldn’t spend a lot of money on our hotel stay, so this was nice for its price.

I stayed at this location for a week as I was visiting for a bodybuilding competition. The first room I was given had a water leak and I was immediately moved to another room. During my stay the staff was courteous, helpful and available for any needs for the duration of my stay. Cartha Cartwright provided exceptional service and professionalism.

I always stay here when I have surgery at musc, Ebony was by far the best employee, she went above and beyond. She makes you feel like family.
The place was very clean.

Dark and Damp

We selected this hotel based on proximity to the MUSC medical facilities. The hotel and rooms were damp, the rooms were dark based on poor lighting. The bathroom door would not close based on not aligning correctly in the frame. The shower had mildew in the corners. The shower head needs cleaning. The ice machines are located on random floors and are located as far away from the elevators as possible. But the location was great.
