We have stayed in this Hotel before with no problem ,but this time a bit disappointed with the state of the room.
Bedside table broken and a bulb missing over dressing table.

The "Standard" Wi-Fi in Holiday Inns is generally not fast enough for my business use but there was a definite difference in the low speed of this one compared to most others I have used (I have stayed enough nights in Holiday In hotels already this year to be a Platinum Member for 2015/6 so have a lot of experience of Wi-Fi speeds).
I tried using it in the bedroom and in public areas and even went outside but to no avail and got so frustrated trying to use it to complete some business work that I turned off the computer and waited until the next day to do the work I wanted to complete in this hotel.

Obviously short-staffed, receptionists were doubling up (cheerfully) as serving staff.
The company is probably lucky to have two such competent front-desk staff.
I am an IHG shareholder - and was pleasantly surprised by both hotel and the Toby Carvery, mainly due to the staff, dedicated, friendly and efficient.
Full marks for the training they receive and to local management who motivate them.

We only stayed one night arriving late after a long drive, closer to the road with road noise evident but as tired slept through. Otherwise may have been an issue. Staff and room faultless.

I booked my stay in this hotel based on experience I had staying here previously when it was owned by another chain.
I was very disappointed to find that the fitness suite had been removed, especially given that other Holiday Inn Express Hotels have fitness suites. Also the formerly excellent WIFI had been replaced by an unworkable service that was far slower than mobile 3g/4g in the area, again this is not my experience of other Holiday Inn Express Hotels, therefore its obviously a local issue.
The breakfast is standard for Holiday Inn Express Hotels but that doesn't excuse how poor it is. Poorly cooked sausage, beans and scrambled eggs no bacon, mushrooms etc etc. Id rather pay for a decent breakfast than deal with this,
Plus points - The staff were excellent and the rooms are very good. Also there is now a Toby Carvery within 2 mins walk of the hotel so that was helpful.
As a business traveller I rely on three things. Decent WIFI, a gym and good breakfast and sadly this venue cannot provide any of these things therefore I will be looking elsewhere in the future.

Always comfortable beds, clean rooms, friendly staff. Wish the breakfast times had been more clearly displayed, I had raved about them to my son and we were disappointed it was all over by 9am. very early when you are not a business guest.

The hotel was of the usual expected standards but the staff were excellent. All were very friendly, helpful and efficient. There were a couple of minor issues with the room but nothing to detract from the overall standard. My second stay and I would use it again.
